11’s are not part of the class action suit.
If history continues they are next.
The original LSC for the frames ended with 08 the suit moved that date to 2010.

This is correct, I was mistaken in my earlier comment. I also believe there will most likely be a 2011+ suit or other action as nothing about the frames seems to have actually changed, the precedent has been set, and the problem has existed since 1995--time will of course tell. If I lived in the "rust-belt"and had a 2011+ Tacoma I wished to keep "forever" doing my own frame preservation would be at the top of my to-do list. Doing nothing and hoping Toyota changed something would be silly...

    Interesting note:

In the findings the ‘Dana Corp’ is mentioned as the oem. If you go look at their web page there is no mention they are in the frame business anymore.

I wonder if Dana didn’t meet Toyota spec or if Toyota’s spec was weak? Or Toyota slacked off on site inspections?

I tend to believe the later as Dana is not part of the class action. What a total clusterfark!

The class action did not say what was root cause.

Toyota sued Dana in 2011, got $25M, peanuts compared to the $3.4B the class action settlement is expected to cost them. dana sold the plants making the frames to a Mexican private company. don't know who made the 2005 to 2010 frames--maybe it was the Mexican company....

Well I just joined the line awaiting for my frame to come in. Wanted to wait til next year but couldn’t take not coating it if it didn’t fail.
I will be keeping my truck until it comes in 3-4 months they say.
I will have my new winters mounted on the stock steels and have removed avid bars and add on’s before she goes.
I love the thought of a new frame but shudder to think of what they will get wrong. I try to check their work and usually find something loose or grommets not seated some shit like that.
Here’s my hole!! The round bar is the tie down on the front crossmember.

08 base so no fancy skids.

On a side note the tech made a statement that these frames are covered for 15 yrs. I didn’t say anything. And the desk guy said hmm depends if there is a open recall? I said it’s not a recall it’s a class action suit he didn’t look up at all. Yes he says it is covered lol.

I’m in the queue as well. The rot on my frame was on the inside towards the middle of the side. It was not near a corner or near a weld like yours. My dealer did not offer a vehicle nor did I push for one yet.

I wonder if other spots on my frame are ready to let go.

Please think again about not taking a loaner from Toyota. Rot that close to a weld and near a corner can raise stresses quickly.

One other point. My rot was discovered by me pushing against the rusted surface with my thumb. Just a few months ago the same Toyota dealer installed the rear leaf springs recall and they didn’t document anything! The problem was there! Oh they did tell about my truck needing BS items......,

I owe much gratitude to this site and its members for documenting this terrible manufacturing defect, especially where to look on the frame for likely problems.

It is the weld itself that is missing.
Noticed it last yr realized it was actually a hole doing my after winter clean and coat. Not overly worried about it structurely. More worried about the thought of it being at the dealer for that time period. If it’s not in the garage I want it in sight. So I really prefer to keep it with me until needed.
A loaner would had been provided and will be when that time comes.
Also asked the stealership if it was common practice to lean shit against the body panels like I saw in the background on a white taco.
    Aholes.
    Never trust the dealer!!!

Lol I do my frame checks with a ball pien hammer!

I knew they had frame issues when I bought it. They have since they pickup buy back then the 1st gen tundras and now the 2nd gens and it’s not over yet.

Looking at your hole it does not appear the weld bead even touched the joining member. The edge is so straight and ‘clean’.

Eeeek! Hate to think about all the other welds if this one was so poorly made.

The puddle of weld on the left of it is impressive.
Tech says they have seen a few like mine but that’s it maybe 4 he said. The usual spots are solid!!
Confused me. Guess I paid to much attention to the underneath and not enough up front?

The 15 year warranty was for 1st gens. 2nd gens is a 12 year AFAIK.

I'm in that middle ground of having an awful looking frame on my 2008, but no obvious holes. I want to keep this truck for another 100K+ miles, but if they just throw CRC garbage on it and let it rot from the inside, I'm getting a new truck. Such a frustrating situation to be in.

OP, enjoy that new frame once they get it done! That truck's gonna last you forever!

Lol just had to go out and the dealer is 2 blocks away from me.
A truck was pulling into the dealer with about a dozen frames.
Been watching my phone for the call.
Thinking I want to go take one and have it blasted and redone with something better.
We build casting machines where I work I’m a machinist and we have full blown fab/machine/paint in house. And the primer/paint we use lasts in some pretty crappy environments.
I’ve worked really diligently to maintain my frame.
Lots of hours on my back picking scabs.
Pic was April 18 the tire thing is Toyota’s doing the rest is me.
Still have a hole seems it was all for not. I will do it all again with the new frame but I have a chance to do it before it has rust hopefully.

I was thinking my worst areas were above the spare and at the gas tank.

    The 2 minute update.
    Lol dealer just called!!!!!

    Customer satisfaction call grrrrrr!

You have 12 yrs from your in service date. I would bet the frame pukes before that. Remember the crc treatment is not the final solution to the problem. You can still go back and have it replaced if the holes (10 mm ) appear.

Use a tool not visual to inspect. My rot looked like all the rest of the frame cancer until I pushed in it.

Do you know how much time is left? Says so on the wep announcement.

    Don’t give up!

Yeah, in-service date was 30 Nov 2007, so I've got over a year left. Hopefully, if I can't find any perforations this summer another winter in Western NY will corrode this frame enough to get me a new one. Fingers crossed!

I had thought that once you got the CRC, that was it. Didn't realize you could still get a new frame if a hole developed; I guess I misunderstood. This gives me a lot more hope! I'll have to get back underneath with a tool and do some poking and prodding!

Yes definitely take it to a shop and ask to use the lift! And you are correct under the original lsc (limited service campaign) once you got the crap crc shit Toyota was done with you. I know the dealership threatened to call the cops on me I wanted it removed after finding this out. I spent 3 hrs talking to potential customers before they did this.
The class action suit is what saved us.

I stand corrected. Then don’t get your truck treated until the last minute. Do it yourself.

The web excludes previous campaigns that coated the frame. I must have been coated in a previous campaign.

A pig with lipstick is still a pig. I wouldn’t do the crc treatment. Let it rot. It’s not if, but when.

Also my stealership told me you can have it inspected often if you choose during your time frame but I did not need it.
