In the mean time OP, I would blast any and all forms of social media, google reviews, BBB and the dealer association with a brief review of this. Along with letting the local investigative reporter know you will be hanging out in a well trafficked public area by the dealer with a sign on back of your truck stating “XYZ Motors are crooks, ask me why!” And make sure the dealer knows you are there. Betcha some things get resolved real quick. Also go the route of getting a vinyl tailgate or large window decal stating same verbiage to just leave on while driving around.

I would not take that risk. I'm not sure if the OP stated what he paid for the truck, but the idea of hoping to win and have lawyer fees paid for is a huge gamble. The UCC is not on his side and he could dig the hole deeper.

I for sure wrote up a nice review for Google, sadly I dont think it gives me any legal rights. I think I have most likely just been screwed out of thousands of dollars. Like I said I dropped my bank on the car alone...

I contacted a friend who is a local airline mechanic. He said that he was going to ask his coworkers if they knew anyone who could possibly help. I showed him the safeTcap website. Sadly my friend who welds moved across the country. Though there are mobil welders in town. If a patch can hold for some time I could always just save fore a new frame.

Could take me til next summer tho and I was planning on moving with this truck. If I can patch it and be able to load my motorcycle in it and move that would be ideal.

Go to your local TV or radio consumer advocate.

Spread the word about this dealership.

When they see/hear themselves on the news about what a POS they sold you, they will probably decide to try to help you by "doing the right thing"

Don't give up without a fight.

Edit: This copied directly from their website

When you are ready to upgrade your current vehicle, come to Maxcy's Auto Sales. We buy, sell, and trade used cars and trucks and guarantee to always help you ride away in a car that is safe, reliable, and well maintained.

I'd venture a guess that your truck is none of the above.

See if this is printed anywhere on the purchase documentation.

You may have some good ammo here.

    Also, kinda good news:

If you google search for their dealership, the picture of your rotten frame is front and center.

Post it on their Facebook too if you can.

I wonder if this dealer realizes that pulling this on a TW member is akin to prodding 4chan.

I'll bet they soon find out :D

Don't give up this easily. Contact the media, in the Bay Area there's this thing called ABC 7 On Your Side that exposes shady businesses. There's nothing worse than bad rep.

Mississippi is a one party consent state for recording conversations. You are that one party.

Go to the dealer and discreetly record your conversation with your phone. Be sure to mention the bill of sale, date you bought it, overly explain the condition of the frame, etc... tell them that they compromised your safety, your family's safety and the safety of other drivers on the road by selling you this truck. Keep making them repeat how unwilling they are to help....keep feeding them rope to hang themselves with.

Then take that recording to a lawyer and media outlet while showing both of those entities the condition of your truck.

If that doesn't get them to do the right thing for you, hopefully you can hurt their wallet(s) more than they hurt yours. Also go on a social media blitz/campaign showing the condition of your frame, etc. Be sure not to libel yourself, just stick to the facts without emotion.

In pretty sure @minigrowl had a similar experience and ended up working it out with the dealer.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
“basically screwed” but not yet. Go in person to the AG and open a file with the sale documents and pics of the frame. Try and find out the name of the inspector that passed the vehicle’s inspection. Don’t give up, yet and that’s a hole not a crack

I can only guess the used vehicle dealer and the OP had no idea of the Tacoma Frame Issues .

This also happened a time ago where the buyer and seller worked it out to split the cost of repairs

Most likely the truck was never on a lift so no one really looked under the truck.

The OP not being aware of the problem never gave it a thought to crawl under the truck in his prepurchase inspection.

Something I did to any vehicle I looked at since the seventies

It is not that bad but the frame should get a through inspection .

I have Tacoma`show up in far worse condition that get driven every day. Having current inspection stickers

Now if your going out hard core 4 wheeling with lots of jumps rock bashing you might have some problems

I did not see what the OP paid to me this falls under the money spent bringing a used vehicle up to speed

You can Lawyer up myself I would spend that money on repairs.

Here in Pa used vehicles can be sold in a as is condition

BTW Found this on craigslist GA. Good frame he says. you can do a frame swap if you can't get anything out from the dealer.

You could give these guys a call, they're based out of California but maybe they can point you in the right direction (or know of someone similar in your area)....

    https://blog.consumeractionlawgroup.com/used-car-from-dealership-wont-pass-inspection/

Says right there on their website (it's a pretty bad site so who knows how legit they are) that they specialize in suing dealerships for selling vehicles with frame damage. Who knows, maybe you could pay them a fee just to call the dealership and scare them into working with you (if they're successful).
