This is for you guys that enjoy some rust porn and want to see an new frame getting put on. I've seen much worse on this forum. This was from today at lunch; they got the truck yesterday morning. The rust looks worse with the frame off the truck!044.jpg

I see new shocks and coils. Did they work a deal on them for you?

    Awesome job

However locally dealer monkeys can barely change oil.

I would be scared to death if I had to trust them to change my frame

That looks good. I have a 2004. Originally a CA truck. No rust like that anywhere and I get under it every summer and root around. I do Fluid Film the shit out of it at the end of every summer though. I also spray wash the underside on a regular basis all year long and even though it snows like crazy where I live they don't use the high percentages of salt they use such as back east. Sand with some salt added is what they use where I live except in really extreme conditions where they bump the salt content up to 20% for use with the sand. 5% is what the standard is here. I'll keep an eye on it and keep my fingers crossed. I have until 2019 for a replace in case it does rust out since it has had all the factory warranty inspections since new.

I would be as well but there "are" some pretty good, honest dealers out there. "Knowing" is the problem. There is just no way to know until you've been screwed or they did the job right and that takes a while to figure out many times. I suspect mine is pretty damn good since they constantly talk me out of buying parts I think I might need down the road. I like to keep spares around for "normal wear" items so I don't have to go find it and buy it when, for example, my alternator goes out. Or a starter. Or a U-Joint. When you only own one vehicle it's bad enough for a major part to take a dump. It's even worse when you have to buy a cheap aftermarket/rebuilt part because you can't get the real deal to replace the original part with. My dealer told me that there probably are no 2.7's in this area because they never see one. He said I probably own the most maintenance free vehicle there is.

    So far, he's been right.

I bought them separate and the dealer installed them for no extra charge. I would have considered the factory Toyota Bilstein shocks but I figured I should upgrade after I saw the difference between the Bilstein 5100/4600 and the stuff that came from the Factory.
