I'm having my frame replaced by Toyota in the next few weeks. The frame is all solid, except for this spot on the drivers side rear. Is there anything else I should have the Toyota dealer do while they are doing the work? It's an 04 XtraCab 4WD with 237K. Timing belt and water pump were done at 209K. The truck lived 6 years in Ohio, then 6 in North Carolina. It passed frame inspection in 2012, but I guess the Ohio road salt was not kind to it.

I'm basically wondering what parts I should be buying to give to the dealer in the next few weeks. So far I bought a pair of new Bilstein rear shocks and a new rear bumper..

That sucks. Would be good to check your brake hard lines and junction block(s).

    Pretty much stock right now
You will get new brake lines. I also had them replace a leaky rear main seal while they had the engine out, and some other small items where I only had to pay for the parts.

If you're keeping the truck... get that list going as Toyota will replace anything for list price of parts and you'll have virtually a new truck! Did my frame in 2008 and truck still tight as new.

Yip...the 02's are starting to all be too old/coverage time expiring, but the last two year models still have another couple years or so left on the coverage clock. If covered it is still 15 years from the date it rolled off the lot so till all first gens have become that old frame replacements will continue...

OP, check with the dealer if they will add parts or not. the dealer i took mine to wouldnt do anything that didnt come with the frame. some dealers do and some dont. before you go buying all this stuff, check first unless you dont mind doing some of the work.

That's good advice. The passenger side valve cover was leaking oil, so I pulled them today and replaced the gaskets. I don't want to pay the dealer $400-500 in labor. I don't think they would cover that even if they were "nice".

I got a call from my service manager and my new frame is in. I drop it off Monday. He said to include any new parts I want swapped out and their is no charge for labor. I put new bilstein 5100's front (on 1" lift) and 4600's for the rear, along with a new back bumper. After this its new tires. We will see how it goes.

They replaced mine at the first of the year. Took a week to get it back. Truck drives like new, and feels nice and tight.

That good they offered to swap any parts of your choice. Some guys on here have ended up having to pay labor for any aftermarket goodies because their stealership are a bunch of greedy bastards!

Make sure they set your front shocks on the correct setting. There's no 1" option on 1st gen billies. You got either 0, 1.25 and 2.50

Just make certian they don't set it on 2.50! It'll ride terrible on stock coils, the reason I suggest double checking is, time is of the essence for them. The faster they complete the swap the more they pocket out of the allotted 62 swap time.

Not mine. First six years in Ohio, then North Carolina the next 6. Ohio was not kind to it, but I've seen much, much worse. I'm undecided over leaving the new frame alone or coating it with POR15 or something.

I believe the new ones bilstein makes have 4 settings now and think there is a one inch setting or somewhere close to. I think i read that somewhere recently? Anyone have a confirmation on that, as far as 4 settings on a new design 5100??

My 5100's have 4 settings. Stock, .67, 1.3, 2 or something similar. I went for the .67. It defintly has four clip positions.

Yeah, there are actually 2 different 5100s available for 1st gens (both can be seen on Headstrong's website), one has 4 settings and the other has 3.
