Stronger steel would feel more right than better paint in terms of a fix. I guess that's too much to ask.

Buddy works for a dealer. Engine is burning oil like crazy under warranty and the warranty specifies to replace pistons and crank bearings. I thought this is crazy because given it's warranty work it must be cheaper to just replace the engine vs paying a tech 30+ hours to rebuild the engine. I say this because it's not a crate engine being sold to a consumer which would be ridiculously priced, but rather it would just cost the manufacturer whatever it costs them to produce the engine. Whether I'm right or not, I dunno, but crazy non the less. To wrap this up, the warranty work only pays 10 hours for something that has taken half a week. It could be possible toyota is screwing the dealers over with this which is why they dont want to do it.

Looks like you need to take it up with a different dealer.
