Good luck. Hopefully you can get more there and you can take that offer over to Affinity Auto for a price match. Dealers are usually more willing to do that if they know that they can at least get $xx amount for it for sure.

Good luck with that. I hope that he does come up another $500. Check the radiator when cold to see if coolant is clear. While you're at it, check the oil as well.

@DriverSound thanks for the help man! I don't think he's going to come up the extra $500. Kind of a bummer I really like the 4runner, but I really don't like the idea of $1500 in negative equity.

No problem. Keep looking. 4x4's are harder to find this time of year.

@DriverSound I'm debating on just doing it. If i'm going to to keep looking i'd have to buy new rotors & pads for my Civic because I drive up & down a pretty treacherous canyon almost daily, so i'm guessing thats $200-$400. I also just realized my registration went bad last month so that's another $170. I'm super tight on money right now & I need 4x4 asap to get me to my job (Snowbird ski resort) safely. It's finally starting to snow around here, so i'm really in between a rock & a hard place. =/

If you need it, just do it but it doesn't hurt to ask them to go up another $500 or lower their price. Good luck. Let us know how it turns out.

That frame is dreamy for an 11 year old Utah vehicle.

Utah is a super scenic state. I would love to go up again and explore.

@DriverSound I still haven't pulled the trigger on anything, but I had a dealer talk me into considering a Suburu Outback today. I like Toyota because of the reliability, but the Outback I test drove seemed to drive really well. It was the same price & year (2008) as the 4runner, but has almost half the mileage & all service records. I love the 4runners & Toyota brand, but the Outback does seem to do MOST things I need it to do. I'm looking for something reliable, big enough to sleep in for car camping, something decent off road for trails in Moab, & 4x4 or AWD. But I honestly know very little about Suburu.

I have little experience with Subaru but we did own one a long, long time ago and I don't remember it breaking down at all. It was passed around through our family for about 10 years or so and was retired by accident. As far as Outback, I have actually driven one and seemed to drive well but just doesn't appeal to me as it looks like a lifted station wagon. We've had 4runners in the family since the 1st gen (mid 80's) to the current 5th gen and it seems to be as reliable as it was back then. Our 2010 currently has 120k trouble free miles. Only thing replaced was a battery, shocks, brakes, and tires which are maintenance items.

Like I said, only thing to look out for was the brake master pump accumulator. Drivetrain is solid if you choose to go with the 4Runner.

@DriverSound the dealer is saying he will do $5100. I wish we would do more, but i'm debating on doing it in the morning. But $1,400 is a lot of negative equity. =/

Any update? Presence at the dealership usually moves numbers when you're there.

@DriverSound yeah I went in yesterday & these guys won't budge. I'm going to have to buy something tomorrow. It's supposed to snow 2-3 ft today through Tuesday in the mountains around here.
