@DriverSound I've looked at a few of those. Mark Miller is only offering $4000 for my trade unfortunatey & CMB Autos won't budge on the asking price. But I haven't seen that one from Larry Miller i'm actually going to go check that one out now. Larry Miller offered me $7500 for my trade in on a Tacoma, but the frame was warped where someone had hit it & they never mentioned that so I passed. They are your typical stealership, but thats a good deal on that 4runner so im going to check it out. I went this morning & put in a loan application for the 4runner we've been talking about. He's giving me $5100 for my trade & the 4runner for $11,995. Has me at $205 a month for 84 months which is $1 more than I pay for my Civic now. I'm just waiting on the application to be approved. I noticed a few of the 4runners you sent me weren't the Sport edition sr5 like the one I put an application in for this morning. Do you know the difference between a Sport sr5 4runner versus one that doesn't have the sport package?

I thought I saw the 4Runner listed for $11,500 and not $11,995. Maybe they are trying to get one over on you giving you more for your trade yet charging more for theirs.

Not much difference on Sport vs SR5. I believe sport comes with a fake hood scoop, better shocks, seat material, leather wrapped steering wheel, and perhaps different wheels on the 4Runners.

@DriverSound so he told me he would do $4600 for my trade at sell the 4runner to me for $11,500 or give me $5100 & let me get the 4runner for $11,995. I figured the $5100 trade in would be the better route so I have less negative equity.

Regardless of how much negative equity, it will be rolled into the new loan. I'd always rather pay less as tax rate doesn't change.

    so i should do $4600 for $11,500 over $5100 for $12,000?

I'm not sure about your state but if you don't get credit for taxes paid on your trade in, I'd rather get taxed on $11,500 than $12,000.
Also, is this the black 4Runner? If so, I thought I saw carfax showing an accident on this car.
Are you checking out the other 4runner from Larry Miller Toyota?

@DriverSound Not the black one, heres the one im talking about http://www.ksl.com/auto/listing/3354931?ad_cid=1

I only have to pay taxes on the difference of my trade, so it would be the same regardless. This 4runner is the one I started this thread about asking about the frame & everyone is saying it's in good condition for the year & mileage. Im heading to Larry Miller right now.

In that case, have you seen this? The one you're looking at looks good though. Is there a carfax? Not that it's entirely accurate.

Let us know how Larry Miller Toyota goes.

Ad is gone, does that mean you are now a 4Runner owner?

@DriverSound My credit union is giving me a hard time on the financing so i'm trying to work that out. I started a new job 3 months ago & right when I started we closed for a month for remodeling so they are giving me a hard time about my income since I was out of work for a month. Thr monthly payments on the 4runner will be the exact same as my Civic i've been making payments on for 3 years & have never missed a payment. I also have good credit, so this is pretty frustrating. I did tell the dealer I want to buy the 4runner though.

Dealer financing not willing to match your credit union terms?

@DriverSound Im not sure i'll have to ask. Are my chances of being approved higher if i finance through the dealer?

With good credit there are a lot of possibilities. I think your credit union was giving you hard time for several reasons and not just being off work for a month. The age and mileage of vehicle comes into play as well as the term length. Vehicles that are older and have a certain amount of miles are harder to get financed for longer term.

@DriverSound I'm trying to figure out an alternative to get approved fot the loan. Maybe I should check out other credit unions? I go through America First. Do you have any suggestions?

I think the job thing is really the hold up on your credit union. How do they know you were out of work for a month? Maybe if you go through another credit union, just leave that part out and provide them your last two pay stubs if they ask for it.

Is that 4Runner still for sale? I don't think I saw it in the listing any longer.

@DriverSound It is still for sale, but he took the listing down because we thought my financing wouldn't even be an issue & everything would go through so he thought he had it sold. When I initially applied for my auto loan the month I was out of work had just gone by, therefore my most recent paystubs were from a month ago, so I had to explain to them why. Even then the last few months are the slowest time of the year for Snowbird & since most of income is off tips, those pay stubs don't actually reflect what I make the majority of the year. But I also had the head of HR sign & vouch for that on a company letterhead. So maybe i'll try another credit union & see what I can come up with.

Typically if your credit is above 700, banks don't ask questions. Can the dealer get you financed?
