Missed the cut off date for an 05 by now. All you can do is call corporate and see what they’ll do. If your nice on the phone they might hook you up.

Yup, my '05 is in the same boat. Toyota says too bad for you! I'm bitter that my local dealer sprayed that black stuff on my frame a few years ago and said I was good to go. I really believe the black stuff set up some nasty crevice corrosion conditions which accelerated the problem instead of helping protect it. I should have gone out there with a ball peen hammer and made some holes while I still had the chance. Now I'm selling the truck for what I can get out of it. Really disappointed with Toyota.

Toyota should have one of those yellow stickers on the visor that states. If your vehicle isn’t under coated yearly if you drive on salt treated roads. The frame will rust and eventually make the vehicle inoperable, and your trade in value will be zero.

Oh, I'm so upset and frustrated. I never received any notification that I was eligible to have my frame inspected and replaced. Last dealer work I had was done in 2017 before the lawsuit settlement (rear spring recall). What really irritates me is I made a big stink back in 2015 about the CRC campaign and how I felt it was going to be a determent to the truck.

    None yet...
I just got a voicemail from my Toyota dealership stating that they wanted me to come back for a frame re-inspection at which point they would rotate tires and crap like that, free of charge. I had the state inspection done back in February.
I'm skeptical as this is a 2013. I am in Boston so road salt and rust is an issue. Though I've tried to be vigilant about washing the undercarriage routinely, there is definitely sigificant rust on my 6 year old truck.

Has anyone else heard of this?
Are they just trying to get me back in for service so they can petition me to buy a new one?
I had the frame swapped on my 2002 back in 2011 and was under the impression newer Tacos had different frames and wouldn't rust.
    What gives?
I use my truck for work and will be dipped in sh*t before I go through that process again.

Here is the stuff about the 2011 and newer frames. Look into this very carefully. The part in red looks like if you live in a cold climate state, and you don't get it sprayed within the 2 years, you can never get a free frame replacement. That's just my interpretation of it. Look at the actual printed document at the dealer and see if that's really the case.

Get it inspected ask if you can walk around with them while it’s in the lift.

    Long story below...

Long story short. I got a frame replacement with absolutely zero hassle.

Sold my 2015 Chevy 2500 to buy my wife a 4Runner. Then I decided to downsize and get a Tacoma due to a shorter commute for a new job. Really wanted a Gen 2 in old man tan and found an 08 in Cinci about 4 hours away at a shady mom and pop dealership. Ended up making 2 trips due to some front end shaking (They repaired). The truck had sat on their lot for about 7 months. Not sure why, bc I ended up with a steal of a deal. I was always a little uneasy about the truck with the price at that place but I looked it over and took my chances. Drove it home no issues. I drove it around for about 3 months and decided to take it to the local Toyota dealership for service and a "used car inspection". They quickly had me come back in the shop and look at the frame rust and made it out like it was going to break in half if I drove it home. They also didn't latch the hood and test drove it and the hood came up in the wind and the hood bashed the windshield beyond repair. (The frame was in excellent shape with minimal rust). They set me up for a total frame replacement that day and had the frame within a week. I dropped it off and left it while I was on vacation. The service dept. lady sent me progress photos everyday of the truck in pieces. I purchased new shocks, brakes and a few other things that needed replaced. It was a truly seamless process. (They gave me a new hood and had it painted also) Got back from vacation and picked it up. They didn't ask for a dime. Gave me the printout of all parts replaced absolutely free of charge (control arms, frame, brake lines etc etc.) Truck is in almost perfect cosmetic and mechanical condition. The carpet still had the original plastic on the carpet under the mats. Later on the dealer I bought it from sent me another key in the mail (I guess they found it laying around). Both dealerships took care of me but the local Toyota outfit was outstanding. Sounds like some luck came my way? Been back for a few oil changes and several thousand miles later and still zero issues.

You sir are one lucky sob. Have you bought a lotto ticket yet?

Good score on that truck and the treatment you received from Toyota. Best situation I've heard yet.

It also only took them 2 days. They had it a 3rd day to paint the hood and were very apologetic but I was on vacation so I didn’t care. Aaaand scored the buy 3 get 1 free toyota tire deal they had going on

so if i have an '08 i'm out of the deal? i just picked up a used 08 with only 70k on the clock and had no idea about the frame rust issues on these, the frame has been coated so when i looked at it on dark and rainy evening it looked clean and good, only upon further inspection did i notice that it had a lot of pitting that was being covered up by the coating.....do i have any recourse?

i talked to the local dealership here in wenatchee and they said too late buddy....is there a way to contact corporate and get them to do the right thing? ...i'd be willing to help pay for it....

1st thing you need to do is find out the "date of 1st use". That's the date that it was originally sold new, off the dealers lot. If it's been more than 12 year since that date, you're time has passed. If you're within that 12 years, look for a 10mm rust hole. If you find a hole that big or bigger, you're good to go as long as it's not a salvage title.

sold in late 08, one owner, clean title, that would put me in late 2020 for 12 years....my local dealer told me SOL, who do i contact to get this done?

they told me 9 years was the cut off.....i think they are trying to get out of the work

If they told you 9 years, don't let them touch your truck. They don't have a clue what's going on. You need to find a better dealer. 1 more thing. Was your truck sold new in the US or Canada? That makes a difference where you go for frame inspection. I'll add a pic in a minute.
