The holes you're referring to looks like the factory holes that were in the frame. Why they were covered up I don't know but those holes weren't caused by rust.

Don't worry about it , by next year your frame will have rust all over it .

Then I'd be ahead of the game, if it lasts TWO years from production! :D

    For the Chevrolet haters...
I was cleaning out some boxes in the closet and found the Monroney sticker and dealer brochure for S-10 that I bought new back in 2000. In the brochure they showed a picture of them dipping the entire frame in some wax concoction before assembly and touting how it was resilient to the elements. I bought that S-10 in Iowa, went through a few winters then drove it down to Texas. It did not have one speck of rust on the frame or a flake of corrosion on the wheels.

We should invest heavily in the Waxoyl that they use on Land Rovers in the UK.

If you guys wanna see a spot that bothered me from day one, go look at where your AC drain is at. Its on the passengers side just above the cab mount. Drains right down inside the channel of the frame. I put an extension on mine ages ago and ported it out down the cab behind the mount.

If you wanna talk about other vehicles, I have an 87 ranger back home with the "NW package on it. The entire box has rusted through, but you will have a hard time finding damn near ANY rust on that frame. Plenty of trips on the beach as well. No doubt the frame paint sucks on the Tacomas. I started in on mine again tonight since I've finally removed myself from the "rust belt". Sure, alot of paint is missing on mine but its still all surface rust, particularly where rocks get kicked up, very easily treatable IMO. Nothing as bad as the OPs case at least, and certainly in good condition.

If could be salt and moisture getting caught between the splash shield and plastic rivet. If thats the case you need to remove the splash shield and sand all the way up there because there will be rust under the paint there as well. Also it is just killing me. What are all those stickers for? I looked at my truck and have no stickers there at all.

Maybe those are drain holes that got covered?

PSYCH!!!! Ok, how many of you just had major heart attacks??? :D
But to the OP, sorry about your rust, mine only had minor surface rust to far, nothing different than any other vehicle I've owned. Hopefully it keeps up, but time will tell I guess.

Still took me about 5 seconds after I was done shitting a cinderblock. :D

And I'd have to disagree here. Line things up using other points in the picture. The hole that's naturally there in your picture is left or just barely below the left pop rivet. His pit/hole is well right of that same rivet in his picture. Looks pretty sketchy to me.

ITs the club, either your in it or your not. Don't be a douch and rip on us for having rust on our frames and being pissed about it. Go shit in someone elses thread.

Lets try and come up with ways to solve the problem. I am bitching to Toyota and Ziebart at the moment.

Truck runs great, 0 probs but it rusts out.
