Toyota came out with a new frame coating and the TSB goes up to 2017. The new coating is not wet and dries to a hard texture. (Forgot the name of product)
The reps are coming to my dealership Feb 3rd and 4th to train the mechanics how to use it and my tacoma is being used to train them. It is a two day process with day one cleaning frame inside and out and day two is spraying. They say it books out as an eight hour job. (I don’t buy that) but if the reps are using my truck for training I am sure it will done the correct way.
I will post the name of the new stuff Monday when back at work.

I'm sure this will be the first and last time the techs clean the frame properly.

No rust that I can see. It goes by vin number as far as I know. If my vin did not have a open TSB they could not use my truck for training purposes I was told.
One of the advantages of working at a dealership. Had the transmission flash done and blower motor replaced also all under TSB or recall.

I got the letter a few weeks ago and from what it says we have 2 years to get this "coating" applied and once we do, we have a warranty on our frames for 15 years after the build date. So for my 2012, I would be covered until 2027.

If you DO NOT get the frame coating done in this 2 year window, you are ineligible for any frame replacement in the future. I normally wouldn't want to get a coating and my frame looks fine, but I think it's a safe route to go in the long term.

Haven’t received my letter yet. I did receive the letter only regarding my 2012, which i traded for my 17.

Is the frame treatment zero cost to vehicle owner?

Is there anyway to find out if your truck qualifies before you receive a letter? I put my vin in and nothing. It is a 2017

Anyone got a breakdown of this TSB i'm interested in the part numbers of the plugs and locations

2018 here, but rather be proactive. I did coat the frame with 3M Cavity Wax inside and out

I think I saw somewhere on here that 2018+ has some type of frame wax from factory.

I just got mine done and it looks like post #8, here is a close up. After 2 days it has not dried hard, its kinda like whip cream, but I would not want to taste it!!!!

It does not coat the outside of the frame at all, it just goes on the inside where maybe water would sit. Does not look like it takes 8hrs, but Toyota told me they had to wash and dry frame, then apply so who knows.

You may want to run your VIN in the lookup tool. Most, if not all, 17s we've seen (including mine) have already been sprayed at the factory. I think this is why they didn't want a 17 truck for training.

Get the toyota owners app or go to toyotaowners.com and put your vin in and see but it says 2011-2017 on the TSB
