    So the idea of a Dorset caves group trip came up in a different thread a few weeks back but no one in there knew the exact details. How long it takes to get in and out, where the trail starts, trail conditions (rumored to be easy), etc. We just knew that people on here have done it before, and thats its a fairly popular spot after a quick search.

    So I figured I'd make a dedicated thread (I was supposed to do it last week but.. :anonymous:). We had originally discussed a weekend trip in the middle-ish of September after everything from the summer has slowed down bit.

    I'd like to get a few things nailed down first and foremost:
    A) what dates work for people (again thinking a weekend in Sept.) and who is interested
    B) who has knowledge of the area trails and would like "lead" the group from a driving standpoint
    C) compile some general knowledge of the area
    i) places to camp
    ii) misc??

    Ill be happy to update this thread and keep all the important details listed here in the OP. But we'll be relying on the info of others as I've never been to that area.

    People:

    @Spare Parts

    @Basidiomycota?

    @bajatacoguy (Maybe)
    @AArias1022 (Maybe)
    @thepinktaco - OUT

    Suggested Requirements:
    -Full size spare
    -General recovery gear like a good strap and solid D-ring
    -Air down for comfort/ grip on the rocks
    -Onboard /portable air if you got it (if not a few others here do)
    -Common sense :boink:. I really don't expect these trails to be too challenging from what I've seen, but they are gonna be small. So turning around is probably out of the question in a group this size.

    Dates:
    Fri - Sun 9/14-16

    Meeting point:

    Camping details:

    Four camp sites reserved at Emerald Lake State Park campground in Dorset for Fri and Sat nights.
    Sites: 66-69
    Pay @Skierrichy when we get there :thumbsup:

    Comms (randomly chosen):
    CB ch: 15
    GMRS ch: 18 (simplex on 462.625 MHz)

    Would be a camping trip for most of us. For me personally its about 4.5 hours one way to get there.

    As long as its a weekend type thing i should be good to go around mid september. Me and @m603holden have been discussing trails too it and there is a road that leads to the entrance, but i have found a video of barese going up the more appropriate 4x4 way to the caves and it looks like a much better time.

    So lets throw some dates around here people. Think we could start a poll? And also, I assume this would have to be a Friday, Saturday, Sunday thing because of the far drive. So to get the ball rolling, that gives us these dates to choose from for a 3 day weekend trip to Dorset. We can worry about camping stuff later.

    September 7th-9th
    September 14th-16th
    September 21st-23rd
    September 28th-30th

    I'm still not sure on the date but I'll let you know. BTW, will it be ok to bring a giant chocolate lab?

    There are a few ways in there from what I’ve heard. Stock and harder ways. I was going to go with Southern Vt off-road group on Facebook this past weekend but haven’t fixed my 4runner yet. I would probably be in depending on the weekend. Think September is pretty open right now though

    Honestly, I want something that I don't need sliders or skids for. I see gravel roads as fun drives.

    I'm definitely interested in checking this place out along with camping! Hopefully I'm free whatever weekend you guys pick. Unfortunately I'm at the whim of my company for travel so they say jump and I have to say how high.....
