from bench to split bench...will it fit?

    ive got a 96 regular cab 4x4 tacoma 5 speed.i presently have a bench seat and need to know if a split bench from a 99 xtra cab tacoma will drop right in.does anyone have the answer?:(

    Yes - the 60/40 seats (which I assume is the 'split bench' you're referring to ...) will fit up with no modifications (to the seats).

    You could end up having to drill or open up as many as 4 bolt holes to mount them, though.

    the holes should be there since both seats were options.

    how about if you wanted to reverse that? and use bench seats in replace of split bench ?

    In the 1st Gens seat swaps are not as straight forward. From what I've read, I doubt it will be easy.

    1995.5 - 2004 seat swaps are very straightforward.

    Single benches and separate buckets use the same mounting bolt pattern. The difference is that the single bench only uses 4 of the 8 holes the buckets require. The remaining hole locations are either pre-drilled (and plugged) or pre-moulded into the floor pan.

    I've seen reports that there's a difference in location / orientation of the inboard rear mounting bolt hole on the driver's side - between the separate bucket and the '60' extended bucket in some model years.
