    I just did this last weekend. Front diff and transfer case with Lucas 75-90. Rear diff with Lucas 75-140. My truck was banging loudly into and out of 4LO. Smooth as silk now. Last time I changed the fluid was 75 000 km ago.

    Probably the same reason some old guys still run 20w50 motor oil in their new truck...

    I did my brothers 2009 on christmas morning. It was original oil and I almost puked when I opened the plug. I actually rolled truck out of the garage a bit to finish up. Ya that stuff is nasty. If you get some longer tubing you can kinda use a bottle like a IV.

    75 000 km on 75-140 and the magnet was clean and the oil still clear.

    ECGS is the most popular regearing vendor on this site and they mandate 85-140 in the front and rear diffs to maintain warranty, which is even thicker.

    It’s all academic bro, it makes a lot less difference than you’d like to think. You do you.

    265/75/16 Wildpeaks, Dakar rear, HS 2.5" front coils
    because of this thread and realizing it has been about 50K miles since my last change, I decided to order some gear oil. 5 quarts of 75w-110, and 1 quart of 75w-90.

    Look back at my maintenance logs, I've changed gear oil 3 other times in the 3 boxes. I've never used the same combo twice. It's all close enough.

    That is the one I use too, some people complain it takes forever but between going years between changing my gear oil and the fact it's so inexpensive that I bought another one just for when I do my steering fluid it's worth it to me.

    The cult following of Lucas oil is funny; this is a company built solely on marketing. The founder is a truck driver; not anyone that knows anything about tribology.

    What auto manufacturer recommends 75W-140? I'm not aware of any. What is special in ECGS gears (that they don't manufacture) that requires this; but somehow no mass produced vehicle (AFAIK) specifies?

    A great business opportunity is to buy the supertech 75W-90 and relabel it as 75W-500. It'll sell. Because "it's an upgrade, it's better"
