front axle leaked all its fluid out and burned up on me while driving home in the icey weather we had here in texas couple weeks ago, heard a grinding noise for about 10 sec then the front end just took a nose dive slidding sideways to a stop on the highway almost got smacked by a little prius behind me. got out looked at the front end and the dif was smoking had to rock it back and forth for it to finally move forward enought to unlock from 4wd and drove home somehow in 2wd with an empty tank so needless to saw was not a fun ride home.

actually it was the passenger side axle seal that went bad.... is the drivers side one pretty common?

got a rebuilt front axle from 4wp for 300.00 got a discount because of all the delays and problems that were happing with parts being mixed up or being on back order so was a mess but worked out great for the price in the end.
