Lighten up man. Looking up a job online to foresee any potential issues isn’t a problem. On the other hand how many brake jobs have you done and boxes of parts have you held with the word brake on it and still managed to spell it incorrectly?

    Hmm . . . none as yet, that's why i'm here . . .
    Brake is spelled correctly.
I cant remember how many BRAKE jobs i have done, I'm 64, started at age 16 as mechanic and still doing them today. Never had to look up how to do a BRAKE job.
I'm all for looking up how to do a job if you haven't done that particular job in awhile or ever.

    A. I’m not sure how you can say brake is spelled correctly when I quoted you and it is spelled incorrectly.

    B. Unless you were a self trained mechanic raised by wolves then you were taught how to do them. YouTube is where people go to be taught things. From the work I see in a lot of cases learning from some mechanics is worse than YouTube. You’ve got to agree if you’ve been a mechanic for nearly 50 years.

Yep just reread my quote and yep second Brake is spelled incorrectly, sorry bout that.
Unfortunately, all too many so called mechanics are indeed worse than some advice found on YouTube. I fully agree.(see I corrected my spelling of youtube).
It's still early and I need more coffee.

Just replaced the alternator on the wife's Scion XB will say I never had to jack up an engine to replace an alternator. Later for kicks I watched a Utube video one showed the entire front end with every bit of plastic body parts removed. Yeah you could see the alt a little easier but the bottom line you still had to jack the engine up to get the damn bolt out of the alt! It took me maybe 45 mins as apposed to several Utube hours!

check out what you have to do to replace the alt on a Chevy Lumina Z34. I did mine, lucky to have the use of a lift. And although I still wish I had that car, thats why I sold it.
Also some Ford Taurus - what a job that is, have to remove a coolant pipe that always rusts out.

I didnt mean to start a war on here- it has been a while since I've done a brake job-probably 5 years or so. I know all brands are different so that is why I you tubed it. it didn't look right( probably a different model or something) so that is why I asked. Again thank you all that did give help, for all those who beat me down for using you tube and questioning what I saw, I would like to say "I may not agree with what you said but I would die for your right to say it".
I know this is the internet but I have never seen such hostility in this forum as I have about this. Maybe there are some of us realize that if you don't like or agree with something on the internet you can just pass it by- not going to change anyone's minds or opinion's so scroll on and have a nice thanks again GUYs

Hey OP, way to go to be the bigger man. In all honesty you will find that members beating on members (hostility) has come to be expected but most all of it comes with much fun and jest.
TW is a unique place to come for any help you may need and 99% of the time you will get so much positive help to your question.
And, yes there are those of us that like to have fun at the same time.
Personally, I feel I am a pretty competent mechanic, learnt an awful lot over my years, but when I do not know what I might be getting into I have used YouTube (mainly for household plumbing/electrical issues). And of course I can be an a-hole with the best of them. Hope you keep coming back for any help you need. Its a good test for us to see how much we know and don't know. Enjoy the day, stay well.

Nothing wrong at all on educating yourself.
That includes watching videos and asking questions.
I’m always more concerned when someone DOES NOT ask questions.

I’ve learned a lot of thing the hard way.
As well as done a lot thong the hard way.
If there’s and easier and faster way, I am all for it.
Life’s short, I don’t have to waste caring about what others think about how I do something.

No need to remove tie rod for a complete Front brake upgrade. I suggest the LX460 Big Brake upgrade with OEM parts and NAPA Eclipse Calipers. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...t-oem-parts-part-s-provided-installed.443656/

I just replaced the front brakes on my 09 6-lug and didn't need to remove the caliper, just replaced the caliper pins (severely rusted) and springs, and pried the old pads out with a screwdriver.
Easy peasy, only difficult part was one of pins was so rusted I had to grind it off. Otherwise the old pads came out pretty easy.
