It's scary how cheap some of the oil is at wal-mart when you compare the same exact bottle elsewhere!

A little of this and a little of that.
Changed front differential fluid today. A little sludge on the drain bolt.

Also changed manual trans. & transfer case fluid.

    This is really great!

What are peoples opinions on swapping out the transfer case drain bolt with a magnetic one? Waste of money? Helpful? The cost appears to be $18.99

I am 500 miles away from doing the 60K maintenance.

I seem to recall the T-case has a screen filter at the oil pickup? If so, a magnet is probably unnecessary.

Not sure if it was mentioned in the 30 pages of this thread that I do not have time to read at the moment, but does the LSD diff need a special additive? Thanks.

This thread is for the front diff and transfer case. I'm not aware of any LSD front diff.
If you're asking about an LSD rear diff, yes, you'll need an additive.

You don't have an LSD diff...

Mechanical LSD diff were only in 05-08 TRD Sport model.

I don't think that is sludge. I believe it is very fine iron shavings stuck to the magnetic drain plug. Completely normal and healthy.

I have a TRD Sport 2014, and believe my LSD is brake activated. Am I wrong or wright ?

^Yes, brake-activated, like every Toyota and Scion from 2009 onwards. Press the VSC button once to enable (an Auto LSD light should come on in the gauge cluster). It's jerky but effective - tried doing a launch in the rain, there was brief wheelspin, followed by a kick in the back.

I'm assuming I can put an ARB air-locker, and still have LSD. Or would it screw with the LSD sensor,(or however it's triggered) ?

A little of this and a little of that.
Thank you & I agree. I didn't think there was an issue with my front diff., just included some photos for the heck of it.

^The stuff you buy for the Taco don't go out of fashion... until the 2016 model accessories come along.

Before changing the frt/rear dif oil, should the truck run a few miles to warm up the fluid?

do it cold after the truck sits over night so all the fluid will be down in the pumpkin.

    I did it warm.
I also jacked up the pass side of the axle to drain that side, then jacked up the driver side to drain that side and account for the drain plug not being on the bottom of the pumpkin.
Took almost 4 quarts after all that.
