When you smashed it flat the second time it made the hole in the center of the washer smaller.

    ^^ that.

take them off with a dremel or tin snips or something. they aren't sealing very well any more. I know guys who will heat anneal those crush washers and reuse them

Thanks for the info. Hopefully they will last through the week without leaking because I won't have a chance to mess with it until then.

its highly unlikely it will do more than get a bit dirty from minute seepage.

2009 TRD Sport with the LSD, can I use just the 75-90w synthetic? Or do I need any special additive?

    Yeah.
Is it the electronic LSD? Like do you have a switch in the cab for Auto LSD? If so, it uses the brakes to simulate a mechanical LSD, no additive required. I had a 2006 2WD Tundra that actually had a mechanical LSD, it had a sticker on the diff that said LSD. If yours is similar, you need the additive, but I don't think they have put mechanical ones on Tacomas since before 2009, and then only on the 2WD PreRunners.

    Yeah.
No, those are for the oil pan and will be too small. Look at this page down below in the"Products discussed in [this thread]" section, there is a link to what looks like the correct ones. FWIW, I have changed mine twice and not replaced the washers, no leaks, and I am pretty OCD about maintenance and torquing things to spec.

Sweet, thats the exact one I was looking at. Is the additive needed for the TRD OR though? I guess what I am trying to say is, if this already has the additive, will it hurt anything if I dont actually NEED the additive?

the off road needs the additive, these arent always this cheap, if you can, buy enough to do it 2x

    Yeah.
The 2WD Off Road PreRunner with mechanical limited slip needs the additive. The Electronic LSD does not need the additive. But the Mobil 1 listed should work fine for either.

I went to my dealer yesterday to get the crush washers in preparation for the differential and transfer case oil flush. I saw quart bottles of Valvoline 80/90 gear oil that the parts guy said Toyota was using. Do you think this will be ok to use instead of the 75/90 Mobil?

Yes, either will be fine. Just curious, was the dealer's asking price per quart?

I think it was around $9 a quart, which I didn't think was too bad for a dealer.
