My pump is good for quart and gallon bottles. Got it at O'Reilly.

Check there, Harbor Freight, Advanced Auto, NAPA if you have any of those in your area.

BTW, usually if the store carries quart gear oil, they'll have a quart pump. Odd that you haven't found one.

I just stuck the hose from the "gallon pump" down into the quart bottle.... worked fine for me.

Ive tried that before but the gallon hose was too thick for the quart neck. Thats why I got the dual pump.

I was finally able to get started on this project today. I changed the spark plugs as well as the rear diff and the xfer case. Naturally, I kept getting interrupted so the front diff will have to wait till tomorrow.

I used Royal Purple (had no idea the stuff was actually purple:rolleyes:) Anyway, I was able to fill the xfer case without using a pump since the bottle had a long tapered neck.

I guess there's no danger of overfilling? I wasn't sure how to measure 1.1 quarts so I just filled until it started running out, then waited a bit, and filled again till it started running out.

I think as long as you waited a bit you are good.

That's what I was thinking. If it is off, it's not off by much. I'm sure there's an allowable margin of error

changed mine yesterday using this now that i finally had the right pump. went pretty smoothly taking exactly 2.7 qts total between the two. The front diff shot oil further than expected and i had a mess to clean up. Nothing a little kitty litter and 45 shop towels couldn't handle. thanks for the write up!

The right pump is whatever works for you to put oil in there. :D

Yeah as long as you fill even with the fill hole you're good, even if it settles and you can add a little more after it's fine.

So I have read the whole post. I have 2012 V6 4x4 SR5. All I can find locally is Mobile 1 75w-90 LS. My understanding from the post is I can put 75w-90 in both diffs and the transfer case. I do not have a LS. There was one post that said I could the LS oil in all three. Then there was one that looked like it said to only use it in the rear.

Is it OK to run LS version of the oil in all 3 without hurting anything? How long have you been doing this? What exactly does LS do?

So I went to the Stealership today to get the crush washers for a 2012 DCLB for the Front and Rear Diff and Transfer case. I told them what I was doing and needed all the crush washers.

This is what they gave me:
    2 x 12157-10010 (Front and Rear diffs)
    1 x 90430-18008 (Transfer Case)

I asked them wasn't I supposed to have 6 crush washers and isn't one of them supposed to be brass?

He looked back in the computer and said no that is all you need.....Based on the above post I quoted it would appear the dealership is completely wrong.

Can any one confirm what I need for a 2012 DCLB?

Sounds like he gave you crush washers for only the drain plugs.

In reality you can re-use all of the old ones if they appear to be undamaged and you clean all the surfaces well.
