My 2016 TRDOR has a slight lift. I just did the ECGS bushing and a new seal. It leaked. In with another seal. It leaks less. WTF? I’m now thinking stuck diff breather.

For those of you battling this I finally solved mine. 3 seals, new axle and wheel bearing later. I think the wheel bearing was really the cause. There was no play when the wheel was off the ground but I have a steering wheel vibration at 50-60mph this must have been the axle flopping around. I got the bearings from here: https://www.am-autoparts.com/2006/Toyota/Tacoma/Wheel-Bearing-Hub-Assemblies.html

Hey guys I am having the same problem on my 2005 v6 4x4. I bought a new cv axle but after reading this post want to replace differential bushings and seals too as I replaced this same cv axle 2.5 years (45000 miles) ago.

Is anyone able to describe better the parts I need please? I tried to explain what I thought I needed ( dif bushings and seals) to autozone and they said I need to be more specific. I bought the cv axle from there sounds like they aren't good quality? The one I am about to replace now is an opm from oreillys.

My truck does have a small 2 inch stock lift, it seems like this can add wear and tear to this part of the drive train. Anything else I can do to improve this? I have already had to replace the passenger cv axle and wheel bearing too a year ago but it never leaks like this driver side one does. Thanks for any suggestions for parts.

Google “East cost bushing supply” or east coast bearing supply one of the two. They sell the parts you need. They have a puller that is a must as well.

You need a bushing to put in place of the bearing in your driver side front diff, then a seal because you will probably dig it when doing the bushing.

No problem, just a warning it is a pain getting the old bearing out without the proper tool. If I were going to do it again I’d buy the tool from east cost bearing or bushing.

ECGS East coast gear supply is who makes the bushing.

I had the ECGS items installed by a professional mechanic shop a few months ago. I was getting strange vibrations on and off while driving after lifting the truck 2.5". The vibrations went away but now the new seal and bushing are leaking. Thank goodness for warranty! Truck goes back to mechanic in three days...

I have been told that if you drive too long with the vibrations, it can mess up a lot of things along the CV axle and differential. Be sure to take care of little things like this soon or you'll be sorry.

My passengerside seal just started leaking out of the diff. I heard maybe the brother tub getting clogged can creat pressure and push glued out the seal. Anyone Screenshot_20200524-113812_Video Player.jpg Resized_20200514_123145.jpg else experience this?
