The other day after I got my new tires and rims, it was raining and went down a gravel road and now there is a weird noise in the front end. Sounds like metal on metal something. The noise comes and goes but does seem to be magnified by 4wd. Also when brakes are applied sound goes away. I took the wheels off and the rotors holes look like they are worn out because of the gap around the hole. Not sure if it's related to the noise but I will put a picture of the rotor. What could cause this noise?ImageUploadedByTapatalk1420410283.421826.jpg

It sounds like you may have some gravel that was picked up and trapped between the front brake dust shield and rotor.

The holes you are referring to is not an issue, they have to be loose so they will come off when desired. If the lug nuts are tight the rotor will not move.

What are the wheel specs on your truck? Size, offset, and most importantly hub bore size.

I have some rings from my old rims. I believe they will fit if needed but the hub bor fits over the hub with very little gap.

That may not be the problem then. I could be wrong, but I don't think there should be a gap at all, would still be worth looking in to. Usually aftermarket wheels use a hub bore that can cover multiple models of vehicles.

There is a slight gap. Could this be part of it?ImageUploadedByTapatalk1420478448.631750.jpg

They are acorn lug nuts with extended threads. So most likely brake issue?

The rings have won't fit. They are way to big (O.D.) to fit.

That could definitely be the cause of the problem and I would recommend getting the rings to eliminate that gap. Do you know the model of your wheels? It would be best to know the exact hub bore so you have the correct rings.

Since it goes away when braking.... Perhaps Brakes dragging ??? Or, Brake wear warning tabs bent and dragging on disk?

Bore on new rims is 100.4. Just finished putting new rotors and pads, and the noise is still there

Edit: I don't think 100.4 possible. Must be the 110

Could it be the LCA bushings and/or ball joints. Here's some picturesImageUploadedByTapatalk1420507902.183114.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1420507911.899901.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1420507924.467547.jpg

That lower control arm bushing seems to have a very large gap between the rubber and the cap or it looks like it has shifted to the right in the picture. I could be wrong, but it looks odd to me.
