I recently purchased a 2002 double cab 4x4. After transferring my Toytec lift from my 2002 extra cab (this truck had no issues with the lift installed) to my double cab, I immediately started to get a vibration that can be heard/felt at speeds of 30-50mph in 2WD (the double cab ran fine before the lift was installed).

Once I go into 4hi the vibration immediately goes away. I've tried rotating tires and swapping to "known-good" axles and the vibe is still there...no changes in sound or feel.

After a ton of researching, all symptoms point to a bad cv axle needle bearing. So, I'm planning on purchasing a replacement bushing from ECGS (along with the removal/installation tool):

My question is, does anyone have first hand experience with this? If so, any tips/tricks/advice before I start on this job? Seems pretty straight forward, but any help is appreciated.

Found this vid on youtube...seems like there's a lot less info in regards to this bearing and 1st gens, 2nd gens on the otherhand...

No problem glad I could help! I bet that was getting annoying.

It was so annoying, to the point where I thought I just bought a bad truck. I mean I didn't have any of these issues with my white truck.

After the fix, new steering rack bushings and an alignment, the truck is nice and tight again.
