So, I'm driving to work today, and about halfway there, I hear this awful thumping under my footwell.

I stopped and got out to look, and lo and behold, my left front mud flap had torn off somehow. It was hanging by about an inch of material (rubber) that hadn't yet torn.

At first, I thought some jackass had cut it, but upon closer inspection, it was a jagged tear.

The issue is, I have no clue why this would have happened. I haven't even had it in any hairy stuff where it would have stressed the mud flap all that far.

    Maybe it just dry-rotted...who knows.

Now, it's back to the dealer to get them to fix it.

They all do it. My front right broke of so I took the front left off to match it. The mud flaps do as much damage to the paint as stones would. Both sides have worn through the paint on the fender flares from flexing against it.
When I get a new truck I will remove them before they do damage.

I've replaced both my front flaps on my 05 and they say the 07's and newer are longer... they're crap if you ask me. Luckily I replaced mine with some from a friends truck. Those broke as well so I took them off. Going to do some Line-X on the rockers instead.

I think I'm just going to take all of them off. Don't really want the hassle of having to clean off hard rubber off my doors and quarter panels again.

When I bought my 06, it didn't have them. I looked on eBay and they were way too much. I will have to investigate the Line-X thing. If you have any more details, post 'em.
