To OP's original point, when I get my plates I intend to have frames on the front and rear. And I may end up sanding the front "bucket" to get the fit right.

Thanks for all the feedback friends! To clarify - I’d hand wash if I had the time. I agree wholeheartedly that hand washing is better for the truck.

That being said, my search for a clean, flush fitting frame continues.

Simple, avoid auto washes with brushes. They are trash. You couldn’t pay me to take a vehicle through one. Your better off just not washing it...

Hand wash is the only way to go.

Went to Ohio last week to visit family and friends. I encountered quantities of great multitudes of bugs during my drive.

Went out in my folks driveway to wash my truck and my mom gave me a microfiber drying towel she'd just bought, but hadn't used yet. Guaranteed to dry a whole car without wringing it out.

I thought there was no way, but gave it a try on my tonneau cover, worked perfect. Dried the whole damn truck with zero streaks or lint.

Bought one at walmart for $7.99 as soon as I returned home.

Amazon has the exact same same towel for $26.00

If the car wash has the ability to turn the brushes off and just rely on the soap and chemical spray when you go thru the tunnel then do this !!! . This is how I get my truck washed , I ask the attendant at the beginning of the tunnel "no brushes"

When I go thru the brushes are on for the vehicles in front or behind me

In CT its required but not really enforced. Unless you're a jackass with a lowered honda civic with window tint and useless exhaust - you get my point. Don't be an idiot and they won't bother you.

Sorry that the air tank was photobombing here, but you get the idea. Low profile and carwash approved.

I hand wash only. I spend to much time keeping my truck clean to risk scratches from those things. Do not use the brushes at the do it yourself places!! I was cleaning my truck at one and the guy next to me was hosing off his car while his young kid was brushing/cleaning the ground with the brush!!!! Glad I wasn't the next person to use it on my car!!! I took my truck in to 2 dealerships [oil change/ computer update] and I declined there wash both times.

    Thanks @cshrum for the mention.

Links to the flush mount bracket are below in my signature. Even with the bottom bent there is a slight chance the car wash brush could get violent. A 2nd gen customer just posted that the car wash brush bent his plate frame but did not damage the bracket. So the bracket alone is pretty tough.

If not hand washing the the best choice would be to use the flush mount bracket and remove the plate before each car wash. With the right tool in hand it will take you about a minute to remove and another minute to reinstall the plate.

    It's a secret
What front plates? There are just two screw holes where the bracket holder was...:notsure:...the second plate DMV mails is the "spare" for when the rear one gets stolen by the maany drivers in SoCal who aren't permitted to drive or own a vehicle...:burnrubber:

Lol! Back when I was in my teens, I bought a car from a dealership but didn't come with front plates. I filled the two screw holes with spike studs and a decal of a skull right in between. Needless to say my very first trip out of town in my first car, I was pulled over for a fix it ticket and forced to get plates.
