i have my original shocks at 97k miles. Should i be thinking of replacing soon? I am already thinking of new wheel hub bearings to head off the 100k mile failure.

you can also buy gently used 3rd gen sport or off road shocks for a great deal as many new 3rd gen buyers are swapping the stock shocks out for big lifts etc. I just found a trd off road set up; shocks, struts and control arms for 175 with less than 10k miles. Its another option.
