Did a search around the site but can't find exact answer. Looking at buying 6.5" front speakers, depth is 2.75". Will this fit in factory door opening without hitting anything in the door? Will it be easier to buy or build speaker mount, what thickness would be best. Any advice would be appreciated, I'm a total noob when it comes to audio stuff!!

clearance i think it's 3.25-3.5 so 2.75 is good to go...
thickness on the mounts is usually 3/4 of an inch, there's some options you can get the scosche adapters (plastic), you can make your own mdf ones, you can get ********* ones (hard plastic or mdf options), or you can get mr marv's mdfs as well...

Since you're wanting to install 6.5" speakers in a 6x9 factory location, you'll need to build a baffle anyway. You can get away with a 3/4" baffle and still have room between the speaker and door panel. With that 3/4" baffle, your mounting depth is now 2". You're good to go.
