metraonline.com will tell you what speaker sizes go where in almost any vehicle.

Front speakers on a 2nd Gen are 6x9. And there are plenty of speakers with that size available on amazon for a decent price.

    See: http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-TSA69...6?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1299752546&sr=1-26

Give it a look around, unless you'd prefer the 6.5"

Back to topic. I personally think that for the price, Pioneer can provide great sound quality. They handle bass well, and if you have a sub and can filter your bass away from the door speakers and to the woofers, it makes the quality that much more crisp.

I personally replaced all four door speakers with Pioneer, and I LOVE the quality
