After having my rear leaf springs replaced about 4 months ago due to them squeaking, the front has been acting up more and more since about August. I don't have the time to take this truck in every time a new issue crops up so I was wondering what the possible causes would be of the front squeaking under slight movements?

I can step on the tube steps and hear it, rock the truck and also hear it. It seems under the more the suspension moves the less likely it is to squeak. I'm coming up on the 15000 mile service soon and figured I would take it in during that time to get both the service and squeak resolved but was thinking it could be the shocks. I'm not a suspension guru, is there anything in particular I can look for so I can bring more information to the dealer?

I know for sure it isn't the skid plate, I've already taken it off and tested, the squeak remains. That was something the previous service department kept swearing it was.

    Recap:
    • Front end squeaks and sounds like metal on metal during slight movement on roads.
    • I can step on the tube steps and hear it
    • I can apply some lift pressure on the steps the opposite way and hear it
    • I can rock the truck and hear it

If its metal on metal my guess would be your springs. I would spray down the springs around the ends where the springs coils flat and touches.

I'll take the tire off and take a look today. Hopefully it is something that easy.

Are you sure it is suspension? I had a squeak/rattle that was a front body mount not centered. Dealer found and fixed it and it's been fine.

I had the same issue about 3 months into ownership. You either have a extra rad mount clip stuck somewhere, or the two you have are broken. Or, the strut is blown on one of your front wheels.

It's been raining all day, haven't had a chance to get to it. I noticed that when the vehicle is wet, no noise. So it's probably the mounts you linked to. I'm going to make the dealer fix this instead of me taking it apart to verify. 14200 miles and it needs to go in anyways. Thanks for the information folks.

An update, the front rad mounts were the issue. They replicated the issue just as I showed them how and ordered me a new left and right set. The tech put his fingers back in there and could feel the metal on metal. So this should be the end of the woes I have with the truck. I've been through a set of leaf springs on both sides, rad body mounts, and an ECU flash for the transmission to fix both tranny problems.

Last update on this issue. Got the truck back today, no squeaks. The work order stated the bushings were completely worn out, the bolts were rubbing, and due to the worn bushings, the bolt and washers were rusted out. Both sides were replaced completely. Glad it's fixed but this will probably be the first and last Toyota I ever buy. My truck has been in the shop more times than any of my past vehicles. In the end, Don Ringler Toyota idd a good job supporting me despite the first hiccup in relations.

@AAChaoshand glad you solve the issue. I just found it I'm hearing a squeaking noise from the front right suspension while driven through uneven roads or if I rock the truck. Can you share which were the exact parts replaced? Im planning on taking it to the dealership soon
