Very true. Reading about the coming updates for the 2018s, jumped my shopping into high gear.

Not using the park brake for extended periods is a sure fire way of ending up with seized park brake.

How far do you drive? I drove about 2 miles from the car wash to my place so maybe it wasn't enough to dry off the water. Plus it was getting cold already. I also park on a decline, so I need to engage the e-brake. Tbh I think it's just cuz I washed yesterday. I've never had a problem before and it's been colder. I was just cringing at the sight of caked on salt on my blue truck.

I usually take it for a short spin on the highway right after washing (less than 10 miles). This just makes sure that any excess water is flung out and off-ramp braking dries up the rest.

LOL, of course I'm not suggesting that you waste your gas just to dry out the brakes - I usually have some other errand to run after the wash.. like picking up beer/whores/food.

Reviving this thread. No reason for me to create another.

My e-brake is frozen on back left wheel . I put it into 4 wheel to try and brake it loose . No dice . With the power of the truck I was dragging the back left tire. It was squealing and dragging not breaking loose. I tried 4 feet forward and 4 feet in reverse. Then I just squealed it back into it's parking spot and took another car. Hopefully when I return from work it's unfrozen.

Been having this same issue in my 2016 DCLB with the rear passenger locking up. I’ve been avoiding using the parking brake until I can get it to the garage tomorrow.

This issue is terrible for the standard transmission owners. I just had this happen to me a second time. The first it popped off after 2-3 tries powering through it in 2wd. This time it's locked right in, 4wd wont pop it out, just drags the ass end. It gets cold here so I have remote start. In order for remote start to work you have to use the park brake and leave it in neutral. I've been idling, stuck in my driveway for 30min and it's only -6. It gets as cold as -50 here at times. This is ridiculous.

Make sure your brakes are dry, don’t park immediately after wash, deep puddles, etc. sometimes it’s not freezing due to temps below freezing, it’s sticking due to rust.

Yea. It doesn't help that it keeps snowing, melting, turning into slush on the roads, then freezing overnight through the next day. There isn't much you can do here for this issue without having a heated garage.

A -50, I’d have a heated house in Florida haha. Those temps are ridiculous, I couldn’t handle it w all this arthritis.

I was answering Chew with a ridiculous response about being less tolerant of cold weather. Never thought anyone would take it seriously.
