Yes, I’m the guy that has spent thousand and thousands of dollars modifying a 2 month old loaded manual Tacoma to turn around and decide to sell it…..why?

Short answer: I generally trade/sell vehicles often and modifying them to an “OEM+” style is 50% of the ownership fun for me. Plus, we all know the resale market is red hot right now and my soon to be wife will be working from home 100% starting in a little over a month (I have for almost a year).

The truck: 2021 Tacoma TRD Off Road 6 Speed Manual, Barcelona Red over Black Leather; Premum Off Road Pkg (heated leather seats, prem sound, navigation, pwr driver seats), Teck Pkg (Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Cross Traffic Alert), LED Headlights and LED Foglights, Bakflip tri-fold hard bedcover

Mileage: Approx 5200 miles and will go up slightly as I drive the truck once or twice a week to work.

OEM Accessories bought at the dealership the day I picked it up:
Bed Mat, Mud Guards, LED Bed Lights, Black Badge Overlays & Tailgate Inserts

OEM Installed Modifications (all purchased and installed at Beaver Toyota in Cumming, GA):

*TRD Lift Kit (2” front & 1” rear, includes Pro grille and relocated TSS sensor, this is the only lift kit that is factory warrantied)

*TRD “Sema” Matte Black 17” Wheels wrapped in Michelin LTX Defender M&S Tires (road hazard certificates on all tires from Discount Tire), wheels & tires were installed this past July 3rd and have 1k miles or so on them.

    *OEM 5” Black Tube Steps

    Detailing/Protection:

*Xpel Ultimate Paint Protection Film (clear bra) installed on front bumper, headlights, and side mirrors. Yes, I was the guy that posted pics of driving it home from the dealership with painters tape on the bumper to keep it chip free until this appointment.

*Professionally detailed - paint clay barred, machine polished, and ceramic coated along with all exterior glass. Please see video and pictures from a few weeks ago after it was done (I switched wheels/tires to the Sema style recently but you get the point)

    Misc:

I also did the Kdmax tune a few weeks ago. It can be flashed back to stock but I HIGHLY recommend you keep it as it vastly improves the throttle response

The truck sits in the garage 50% of the week and I only ever drive it on trips or for fun. I have every receipt of every mod I did and a spreadsheet tracking all of the expenses of them. This truck is PERFECT and I don’t say that lightly. The first two pics were taken last week after it rained and the others about 5 weeks ago when it was detailed / ceramic coated.

PRICE: $46,500 (adjusted to beat any other price on any of the auto sites for this color, options, modifications, etc). I posted the Carvana price which a few dealers I've talked to said they would match on a new purchase. The tax rate in Georgia is quite high so the trade value with the tax credit is right at $45,000. I'm asking $46,500 which is fair considering that finding this truck new is impossible and finding it used in this spec with these mods is almost impossible too.

I can’t speak to why he put popcorn but that price is a little silly. I know the market is nuts right now but you’re asking Msrp plus Msrp for the “upgrades” which are essentially just oem add ons.

If you decide to drop the price significantly, I’m interested and local. Otherwise, good luck with the sale.

I appreciate your candor. As others have mentioned in other posts, it's difficult to price a truck like this that is modified. I based my price on the scarcity of this trim with this transmission with the OEM+ mods on it from seeing how the few manual 2021s across the country are priced without these mods. As with any modified vehicle for sale it really only appeals to a certain type of buyer; one that would literally do everything I did to it but doesn't want to go through the process and has had a hard time finding this spec in this color etc. I just did a quick search on cars.com of all new 2021 manual Tacomas TRD OR with heated seats (meaning it has at least the OR Premium Pkg) and 8 came up total. Two had MSRP listed and the rest were "call for price". Again, not much to go on but certainly means there are slim to no pickings this late in the year. I do respect your comments and do agree that the price is certainly not a "deal"; really dwelling on it for a bit, it's a situation where I would sell it for that but know that I will miss it as soon as it's gone and don't have my whole heart in selling it. Kinda like the meme where the guy lists some old car his wife hates for sale for an absurd price just so he can say he's "trying to sell it!". Haha.

I understand where you are coming from. The thing is you have listed your truck for sale on a website that has truly "modded" vehicles. Yours has a couple of OEM upgrades and a minor lift on it. Its beautiful and well sorted, which is why I would theoretically be interested in it, but its not really a modded truck. As far as Tacomas go, I would say this is about as mild as it gets on the used market.

Anyway, if you decide to sell and want to price it accordingly, I would be interested. Thanks

Very nice truck and GLWS! Interested in your opinion between the LTX Defender MS and the A/T 2s. Looks like you had both at one point on the truck.

    Thank you!

Yes, I did have the A/T2s on the truck for a month roughly and ultimately exchanged them at Discount Tire for the Defender LTX. The reason I did this may have been slightly unfair to the tire itself. I had an issue where I could not get a perfect balance on the 2021 4R TRD wheels with the A/T2s; I had Discount Tire try two times and another shop one time. They were fine all around except for a slight vibration/shaking in the steering wheel between 60-65mph. Anything over that and it would stop. In hind sight, after talking to some other guys that had those wheels, they are apparently almost impossible to balance perfectly. Even a friend with a 2021 4runner TRD Pro that they come stock on said they are PITA as far as perfect balance. I just assumed it was the tires and while I had a chance to do an even exchange, I took it and got the Defender LTX. The LTX suits 98% of my driving style - road trips on paved roads with the other half and our dogs. If I keep this truck a while longer - I go back and forth with this thought as I've done on EVERY car I've owned - I would like to buy some stock OR wheels and mount a true all-terrain tire just for occasions that I would want to throw them on and use them. The LTX is a great riding tire and better on the highway than almost any tire out there as far as I'm concerned. With a truck, I feel it's really hard to have the best of both worlds - perfect highway ride and good all-terrain/off road grip. That being said, I've read some great things about the LTX on fire roads and light off roading too.

    No mods yet.
Just curious, did you do the ceramic coat yourself or pay a detailer. If the latter, can you give a recommendation of someone in Atlanta and the approximate price? I just bought a 2021 Army Green, TRD Pro and unfortunately I don't have garage space so it will be parked in my driveway. Looking to protect the paint. Thanks!

Bump and price lowered. I spent quite a bit of time looking on all of the used sites for a fair price for this truck with all of the options, in this color, with a manual. I'm listing it for $500-$1000 over this spec without the lift kit, wheels/tires, paint protection film, etc.

Window sticker lists it as Tech Pkg $800 (Blind Spot and Rear Cross Traffic Alert, body colored rear bumper) and LED Headlight/fog light pkg $495 separately. I *believe* the advanced tech pkg includes the front view surround camera. You may be noticing the spot for it on the TRD Pro OEM grill that comes with the TRD Lift Kit.....unfortunately, it has the spot for it but didn't come with the multi-terrain camera from the factory.

I'm not for sure, but would guess it would be easy to install since the cutout and the plug is there.

I had those LTX Michelins on another vehicle years ago and they were buttery smooth and super quiet on road. I'm still in shock of how expensive these little trucks have gotten since buying mine in 2017. You should keep it and drive it, but GLWS!

I know that's right! I put Michelins on everything I drive; you can't go wrong with them. I feel you on the price of vehicles nowadays, I recently read that the average price of a new vehicle nowadays is well over $40K.

I wanted to update this for sale thread with some pictures I took today after detailing my truck. I look back at it every time I park it and walk away. I got a quote from Carvana for just over $42K buying it straight out and that is without the TRD Lift Kit, TRD Wheels, clear bra, etc (there is no place to list those on the Carvana site). Auto sales tax in Georgia is ridiculous so a dealer matching this Carvana price would equal right at a $45,000 trade value including the savings from the sales tax. Finding this truck new is impossible and I have not seen one this color, with all of the options, with a manual on any used site at any price.

Take the Carvana offer or keep it and drive it. Manual transmission's are a niche market and that's a chunk of change for anyone to come up with or get financing for in today's market. Plus you'd have to find a buyer that wants that exact build / color ect. Good Luck whatever you decide.

Back to the old customization doesn't add value in the vast majority of buyers' eyes theme. Will take the right buyer that is willing to pay new car price for a used vehicle when a new model year is soon to be released but GLWS
