Still taking orders - no need to make a decision on the finish just yet. All letters and backing come to me in raw aluminum. If that how you want them, I'll re-package and ship to you immediately.

Next, I beadblast all the remaining letters and backings. These will ship second.

Finally, if you want powdercoating, this will be the final step (in the color of you choice) and will ship third.

 

Cool, thanks. That'll give me a little time to decide. I may pull the plastic badge off of the Tacoma satoshi grille and put it on the satoshi I'm doing for my '95 pickup. Then I'll color match the letters to the MGM on the Tacoma. Decisions decisions......

Dozer, thanks for the reply. Do you prefer the satin black backing with the white letters or just the white letters alone on the HomerTaco grill? Just asking your opinion as to what you think would look better since you have seen both in real time vs a pic.

 

Everything looks good on a HomerTaco grill! Unfortunately, I haven't seen both in person. I made the first backing as a custom order for another user (@Tyler07) who wanted to replicate this:

To answer your question - the backing provides a great interface for mounting the letters. As shown above you could drill a couple holes and mount the backing to your grill with screws. Then you can cover up the screws with the letters, stuck on with mounting tape. If I re-do mine, this is how I'll do it. That said - the floating letters do look great, but they can be more of a challenge to mount directly to the grill.

Sorry @wacked - I had already placed the order with the waterjet cutter. I should be receiving the raw aluminum parts early next week. I'll put you #1 on the waitlist for a backing piece in case somebody backs out.
