i resent you having a vastly superior vehicle to mine.

waiting for traffic to clear to turn left into a gas station when that drunken bozo came out of the driveway and ran into me. i noticed at the very last second that this guy was coming at me so i floored it, otherwise he would've hit me between the driver and passenger door. he wasn't even looking straight ahead, he was looking to the right as if he was watching for cross traffic. that clown was also leaned over the steering wheel as if he looked like he was ready to pass out.

hmm, anyways...his group of jeeps were directly across the street from the driveway in a dirt lot, so i'm assuming that he intended to go straight crossing the highway to join his group. either way, drunk or sober, i have the right of way since i was on the highway.

At least the "event" happened and he was caught, arrested. Could have been you woke in the morning and found it that way. :(

I'll add another "that sucks" to the list.

At least nobody was hurt, and he got arrested. It would have sucked a LOT more if you'd been injured or if he'd somehow gotten away.

Good luck getting the truck fixed.

Just some advice from a "been there, done that." Even if your vehicle is repaired to its original condition, that accident will reduce its value when you trade it in or sell it. The drunk's insurance company should pay you an additional $1,000-$5,000 for the devaluation to your vehicle. You'll have to fight for this, but I'd go for it. Hire an attorney. You can recover his fees from the drunk's insurance company.

That sucks all around. Glad nobody was hurt.

Big time! Make sure your axel, body, frame is straight. Your brakes.
You can't get just one new tire/wheel. I'll bet you even have stereo damage!

Same here.... No tolerance for alcohol. Period.

If I know someone is drunk or has alcohol in their cooler - you're gonna get your ass reported and you're gonna get escorted out of the park. I only wheel on legal offroad parks where alcohol is illegal. Now that I'm older and wiser, I don't even bother wheeling at the 'non-legal' areas because there are drunks, druggies, and people with frigin shotguns driving around. Screw that!

    Fixed it for ya!!!

But yeah- There are just as many ignorant toyota owners as there are jeep owners. There are good jeep owners out there. I'm one of them!!
It's unfortunate, some of the toyota owners haven't met any of the good folks.

That sucks!! Sorry to see that happen.

This happened at an organized event? They (event organizers) allowed alcohol & driving on the trails? That's totally messed up!!!
If I would've known some ass-hat was drunk on the trials, I would've called the cops and got him arrested before he crashed into me!!!
Offroad events should NEVER allow alcohol!! It's the same damn thing as driving drunk on the roadways.

Did you get his insurance information? I don't care if it was offroad or not - HIS insurance company should pay for ALL OF IT!! (and then some)

i agree 100% about the organizers. but since this event was held on open land and with literally a few thousand people in attendance there would be no way for the organizers or any staff to police everyone up..impossible really. the accident happend on the highway and not off road, and yes i got all of his info.

UP DATE: his final B.A.C. score was 1.005 and this will be his 2nd DUI arrest!

this pic shows not even 1/4% of all the base camps that were sprawled all over the area....
