Replaced the fuel filter after 10K miles of bad fuel in West Africa (110K miles prior, Stateside). Turned out to not be all that dirty. I think the problems I described may have been related to poor fuel or water or something going through the system. For whatever that's worth. One lesson learned on replacing the filter: I would have tried to remove the bed and access it from there had I thought about it more. Dropping the tank was a pain in the ass.

As said before, I had to change twice the unit pump/filter.
Because the poor quality of gas here(and also the additives they put in the gas).
But I changed only the pump in the unit. The filter was still clean.
Dropping the tank takes 2 or 3 hours, but that lets you clean your tank...

Refilling the tank before the nevel is low helps a lot.

not sure if it works or if ive just never had a problem. (it definitely saves carburetors from corrosion)

HOLD ONE-for the 1996-2.7L the Filter is under the Manifold Pipes-you have to go at it through the front/driver wheel base-through DAMN mouse holes!

I have an 2016 Taco with the 4 cyl engine. Has anyone changed out the front shocks. All the videos I have seen, shows loose the brake lines, disconnecting upper ball joints. Can you just compress the coil springs and work the shock out without disconnecting the top ball joints?
