Whats up guys. I have a 2004 Tacoma 3.4L that's a really cold starter. It starts and dies all the time. Hasn't really bothered me until I got my remote start installed and the remote start cannot start my truck because it takes so long for it to start. THE FUEL PUMP WILL NOT PRIME WHEN YOU TURN THE KEY TO ON POSITION. Once the truck is started it runs perfect like nothing was ever wrong. No check engine light or any lights. Fresh tune up and new o2 sensor. Please help somebody cause it's about to start getting cold and if I don't get my fuel pump to start priming then I'm not gonna be able to start my truck from my key chain

Not priming when you think it should, is likely normal. Not sure about your 3.4, but my 2.7 does not prime (fire up the pump) with the key in the ignition position. The pump turns on when the computer tells it that the starter is cranking. Then, when it starts, it stays on due the motor running (the crank or cam sensor signal). I think its a safety issue, in case of an accident.

Tacomas don't prime, the fuel pump engages when you crank it.

The pump will not turn on when the key is turned over. That better?

Doesn't sound like you have a fuel pump issue, this behavior is normal for Tacomas. You may have another issue causing hard starts and dieing. You could test this theory by jumping the fuel pump relay so it is constantly on and trying a cold start. Just don't forget to unjump it after your test. You'll have to look up proper instructions on this though.

Just a thought but it might be your fuel system looses pressure when it sits for a long time.

    Injectors leaking into cylinders

fuel draining back into the tank.
