Our tanks are 21.1gal. Take it to your dealer post haste. Sounds like a sending unit issue.
As a side note if you are running it almost empty you could be damaging your fuel pump. Try to keep it above 1/4 to keep the pump cool.

Gauge works normally. No jumping, no fast spots. Also, just dropped it off at Toyota. We'll see what they say shortly!

I never understood running it to the light. I always run it to 1/8 to 1/4 tank and fill up. I'm never so busy that I can stop at a gas station, which seems to be around every corner these days. Since new I think the most I've ever put in the tank was 17-18 gallons.

I don't make a practice of running it down til the light comes on ordinarily. But the last two months I've needed to make two round trips across our American Heartland. Fr'instance I'm coming into N. Platte, NE on I-80 and I see that I'm less than half tank, but I'd rather not stop right now. I don't have a lady with me (see thread about getting stuck in snow) so tinky stops are not an issue. I do a little calc in my head and see, yep, I think I can make Ogallala. Get to Ogallala and the light is on. Put in 17+ gallons. Lather, rinse, repeat.

I drive back and forth from Vermont to Jersey every weekend. Its 245 miles there, I can fill up in VT and get to jersey with the light having been on for about 25 minutes of highway driving. When i fill back up it takes about 19 gallons.

Most I ever put in my tank was 20.6xx gallons, I like to test the accuracy of my Ultragauge every so often. It claimed I had 15 miles till empty, I'd say that's accurate enough for me

Good luck with getting it resolved. Hopefully they don't charge you $1400 like the poor guy in the last thread I read

If you're putting in 18 gallons you're running the tank right to the point of the low fuel light coming on, which is when the tank is holding approx. 3 gallons of fuel.

So.. just because you don't see the light before you fill up doesn't mean you're not running it to the same levels as those who do.

Update: Truck is at dealer. I took it there empty. They filled it up and only put in 11 gallons. Now they're dropping the tank to see what's going on. Have to leave it overnight. Fun times.

I have the same issues with mine, always takes 10-12 gallons to fill it up from E. Most I've ever put in it was around 13 something gallons. I never cared so much but now you got me thinking. Please keep us posted on results.

One can never have too many light bars.
Previous owner probably swapped the tanks to cut weight and decrease the quarter mile time.
