It's less Tacoma and more mod
I don't mind it really, I've changed it twice and both times it was easy enough and I don't have to get new hoses or bend my existing ones against their will. Plus it acts a bonus fuel heater haha

Once my turbo instal is done I’ll have a high flow fuel filter relocted to the side of the engine bay fir easy changes I’ll also be changing every 15k or two years its real cheap insurance to protect my huge injectors

my JDM motor came complete but I retained my original AC compressor... the replacement motor had one more rib on the drive belt so I had to swap out pulleys. It shouldnt take too long to do the job... maybe a weekend if you go at a normal pace. My unsolicited advice is to get a box of one gallon zip lock bags and as you take an assembly off mark the bag... ac compressor bolts etc. this is just in case you get delayed. It is much easier grabbing the bag than fingering through a selection of fasteners on the ground.

Is there an area in the specifications of a JDM engine I can look at to compare my engine to a jdm and ensure compatibility. The accessories look decently different and I can't for the life of me make out what that extra metal tubing in the front is.

Vs an engine I'm looking at:

I also still don't understand the difference in some of these engines and why someone will put 2000-2004 or 1997-2003 for compatible years.

Gee that's a lot of money for a 3RZ... if you're near Reno, NV I can recommend a good cheap full service junkyard with rows and rows of Tacomas. I got my A340F with transfer case there for $450.

I needed parts for my 4WD conversion (which I'm doing this weekend!) I called tons and tons of junkyards here in Cali and they all either did not have any Tacomas at all, had Tacomas - but 2WD, had 4WD Tacomas - but charged exhorbitant rates for the parts. Since 4x4 is really unnecesary in the Pacific Northwest 4WD trucks and vehicles are very very rare hence why Cali charges an arm and a leg for 4x4 Tacoma parts. For example, the huge Toyota scrapper in Sacramento wanted $600 for an A340F w/o transfer case plus a $100 core charge.

I called this yard up in Reno and they wanted a whopping $250 for the exact same A340F, and an extra $200 with the transfer case. Paid a total of $475 with core charge for a complete 4x4 transmission which would have costed me $1,000 plus here in the bay area. It's full service too so you tell them what you need and they take it out for you and if necessary load it with a forklift.

Shoutout to my man Jeremy at NNAWG Reno Airport. Let 'em know "the guy who drove from San Francisco" sent you, lol.

They have like a million Tacoma, no exaggeration. Tons of 3rd gen 4Runners too. Lemme find a pic.

Call 'em and ask. Nice guys. You literally tell them what you need and they send a guy to get it for you, couldn't be simpler.
