I finally fixed the marlin ultimate rock crawler eco seal dust shield on the rear pinion. I hit it with a few tacks, knowing what I know now that will be the first thing I do next time.

Got all my parts, except for crimps, for my battery relocation. This will be my next mod once I get back from wheeling.

So good evening ranch in WV is pretty awesome. I broke 15ft into the first real trail of the day so I rode bitch the rest of the time, definitely going back!

I left the park this morning, it was snowing like crazy so I headed home, I'm sure it will be a carnage fest today with the rest of the group that stayed there to wheel

My pro comp MT2s are pretty good in the snow. Drove it home with only 2wd and an auto locker and I don't think they ever broke traction on the road.

    I really like these tires!!

Took the tests of the broken parts off this truck and hosed all the road salt off. May have found a contributing factor to the driveshaft failure. That stupid ass spine/dust shield got me again!
    IMG_20220313_130507843.jpg
That shield dented and would not allow the shaft to compress, that happened on my rear axle as well a few years ago. I recommend cutting that off if you wheel!

    IMG_20220313_123058323.jpg
Going to drop the parts off at a local place tomorrow and see if they can build me a shaft so I can at least wheel at AOP at the end of the month. The rest of my battery relocation parts come tomorrow as well.

Interesting. So was your axle binging during travel since the splines weren't able to plunge?

I was trying to bump up a ledge while putting my driver's side tire up on a rock, I slid off and BOOM. No idea if it was binding or not. I also could have prevent that shield from being damaged (don't know if that had a factor in anything) if I turned the driveshaft around and had the splined end on the tcase side.

In the middle of relocating my battery, any recommendations on where else to put my bus bars?

So I started my project to move my battery to the bed, who would have thought if you cut 75% of your inner fender out it starts collapsing under the weight of the battery... So trail gear continues to suck, I'm pretty sure they could fuck up getting out of a paper bag with it ripped half open. So the battery box I got from them, the bolt heads cause the battery not to sit down in the holder, so I'm probably going to grind the heads down. So far the only product of theirs that I actually have liked are the wiper seals for SFA, those are badass!! As shown above I'm dropping the bus bars into the spot where the battery once lived. I stopped tonight when I didn't have the right tool to cut the 1/0 cable, but all I have to do is make my cables and run them and I am ready to start trouble shooting electrical issues that I will have inevitably caused by doing this!!
    What I started with:
    IMG_20220320_192036599.jpg
    IMG_20220320_205821580.jpg
    Battery in it's new home
    IMG_20220320_195204198.jpg
Behold the Chad of batteries. I have beat the fuck out of this battery, including draining to dead and bringing it back to life with a jump from my Avalon and a trickle charger and it keeps on going...
    IMG_20220320_211311155.jpg
It wouldn't be a project if I didn't have to get the grinder out. I had to cut the middle out of the tray so I could bolt the bus bars down.
    IMG_20220320_214813061.jpg
This is basically where I left off, waiting on a cable cutter, some more ring terminals and another battery terminal because the one that was already in the truck cracked.

Done with the battery relocation. Overall it's an easy job, just time consuming and running those cables kind of sucks and takes forever.

    All systems work!

I also swapped out the mirror that I broke.

Hopefully I last more than 10mins on the trail and don't bust prematurely this trip, story of my life...:D

I feel like wiring like that can either feel like a chore or cathartic. It's nice with the heavy gauge shit because you really can't fuck them up, but running them along the body and weaving them in shit can be annoying.

The crimping part and figuring out the routing under the hood wasn't bad. It was laying under the truck fishing that through everything, getting rained on with dirt and shit is what sucked. I'm just glad everything worked again, automotive electrical troubleshooting brings the suck!!

I'm just glad I got a weekend off from welding thin, rusty metal overhead which has been what my projects mostly seemed to consist of lately!!

Went wheeling at Adventure Offroad Park in TN for 4days with the TN TW crew. No issues with my truck, which was good because it was starting to piss me off breaking evreytime I went out. Pretty much everyone else broke something. Onto the pics:

A sign off a good day of wheeling when you need to hold your door closed with the winch line that you had to cut off because your winch got stuck under tension while winching yourself off a tree:
