Thanks man! I wish I didn't have to chop this fucker up, the truck was dialed in right where I wanted it and was working great. Stupid rust. Hopefully I don't fuck it up too bad.

Yeah, that sucks. I hate rust. I would just make sure to run your sleeve or plates like 2ft back if you can so there is a bunch of meat to hold onto and drill mad holes so you can spot weld through good steel to old shit.

Standard issue weekend frame chop for those guys over at Pirate..:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Haha! They actually told me to use less fish plating. I will probably follow the same formal that I did up front, that hasn't broken or ripped off yet lol. The good part is there's still some meat in the areas where my sliders weren't welded on at.

For frame to frame I think you are supposed to do an H cut in or a variation of that. Then plate

Something like that, basically no hard angles and the most weld area possible is how I understand it.

Didn't get to work on this as long as I wanted to this weekend, but I'm firmly in the metal prep and sit and ponder stage of this, so the shitty slow part lol!!

Rear slider mount. The annoying part about this is aside from the air bumps, and raising the tank, this is basically maintenance.

Man, that's a touch on the crusty side! I want to tell you to just cut the sliders and go to front as far as you can but I won't. lol

    Agree X100 times!

I think we talked about this in the SAS B.S. thread a while back, but yea, I've concluded that I ain't sacrificing bed space either just because of the SAS. Like you, I still use my truck as a truck, and am grateful to have a fully functional bed for when I do my Home Depot/Lowe's runs, move furniture, dump stuff, etc. Heck, even simple things like going to Costco and pickup a big ass TV makes you grateful to have fully functional bed LOL.

I think I was in on this convo too. I missed having a factory bed on my old truck. I’m not even going to bob the current truck. Bed space FTW

I remember now. Yes, you offered really good insights on the pros/cons after doing all those mods to the white tacoma.

Pretty much!! Plus going off strictly looks, nothing beats the look of a Toyota truck with big tires, and their goofy really short (height wise) thin beds with that overhang out back.

Been slow going on the truck due to holiday stuff, a power outage that ruined my one day I was going to wrench and my lack of clamps/tools. I did get these cantilever clamps in the mail, can't wait to use them:
    IMG_20221228_144641319.jpg
That's a standard size vice grip for a frame of reference. They supposedly have 2000lbs of clamping strength and don't do that annoying twist and walking when trying to tighten them like other clamps do.
