I'm going to test drive the Nissan next week. I don't love the body style on it nearly as much as the 24 Tacoma but we will se

Same re the oldest of the 2. And I'm of same mind re the raising method.

When I would still hear from him as kid and teen I got my nephew into some older stuff, such as Metallica.

Not sure exactly re his parents but I always made sure to tell him when he said he likes something I have that I tell him how I earned it too..and that as a youngster that Grandma and Grandpa made me earn stuff too

I'll have to give that band a listen, thanks for the link

Just curious, have you never had something you just bought break? Mechanical things break, even new ones. Obviously this is a concern for Toyota and they will figure out what actually went wrong ie: incorrect assembly or material failure, and then correct the issue. You had the unicorn of "shit happens" happen to you with a new vehicle. If you like the truck, style, power, and Toyota makes it right, why would you look at something you like less and settle for that? I know its frustrating, but if its made right, and perhap they add in a premium warranty to "ease" your mind, I would still buy what I WANTED over settling for something less. just my 2 cents of course, but a 1st year production is bound to have a few hiccups. the 2nd gen did, the 3rd gen did, and so does the 4th. But I still have my 2nd gen 11 years later and now wanting a hybrid 4th gen as they are an amazing piece of machinery! But it comes down to what you WANT and can accept. Wishing you luck with all this!

Yes going to Nissan will not be a improvement in quality that is for sure, not to mention direct fuel injection only with their engines, that’s a big no for me

It's day 56 truckless. Haven't done the deep dive into Nissan yet. Just weighing options. An understandable hesitation and bad taste in my mouth for 2024 Tacoma and Toyota in general. Over 100,000 Tundra engines to be replaced and as I read the numbers keep increasing. If Toyota has finally jumped the shark it is something to consider moving forward. Might be a good idea to wait for the 2025...(and pay another 5k!:brianr:) Entertaining all options and input.

You don’t want the truck back. You have fulfilled the lemon law requirement. Just proceed direct to Toyota Corporate with a lemon law request. You don’t need a lawyer, you don’t need to go through the dealer. They will want dates, VIN, mileage, purchase price (including fee’s and taxes). There is a reduction for miles, but it will be minimal.

It takes a few weeks, but you should get almost all of your money back. I’ve done it in CA, a quick look at the Utah lemon law summary looks same/same.

Stop wondering and just move out with the buy back and move onto plan B.

All that is done already.. just waiting for the offer. They know I'm not taking the truck back. Thats been made clear from first phone call with Toyota. If it's going to be another Tacoma it will not be the lemon I handed in

Toyota in general? One phone call and they accepted your lemon. Seems like Toyota, in general, is taking care of you.

actually took about 4 phone calls. The first agent told me they do not do buy backs. The next one told me that they do but only if I financed through Toyota. The third agent finally told the truth and the 4th took the claim but tried their best not to take it and wanted me to commit to taking the truck back after its fixed. I'm not putting Toyota on any pedestal just yet. They are just as full of shit as anyone else and that false info bullshit doesn't fly.

Sure I have. It sucks. Life happens. That's one thing, but if the company doesn't choose to do right by me that's another story. OP's case sounds like the dealer isn't exactly cooperative, corporate sounds more on the ball.

I bought a 2006 Chevy Colorado new and it puked the top end under 5 yrs old, still in the powertrain warranty plus the "secret warranty". 3 months of fighting with 2 dealers to get it fixed without me paying cash up front, and then the day I show up to get it there's a $2000 bill waiting which they won't release the truck without but tell me the main office will take care of me. Main office says oh no we can't, the dealer should have called us. A "free" fix under 2 warranties means just that, a free fix under warranty. Had enough of that and bought my Toyota.

OK my Tacoma "shouldn't" have needed a reframe, but the dealer took the truck, did the process, got approval, fixed it, and got my butt in a rental for the 3 months time. I told them more than once it's those reasons I'm going to do business with them again.

I did have a Frontier for part of that 3 months, and liked it enough that if another Toyota isn't to be I'd consider them..but not without doing more research overall on the brand, that truck, etc.

As a prior owner of a '22 Frontier that I traded in for my '24 Tacoma, make sure you drive the Nissan for more than just a quick 20 minute trip. The steering is much different, and polarizing for most owners. Some love it; some hate it (like me). The Frontier does get you some nice standard features at a lower trim level than the equivalent Toyota (such as power drivers seat on a SV trim, plus dual zone climate control), but the heavy steering, coupled with the poor turning radius, was the reason I got the Tacoma to replace it.

I've been doing some research on the Frontier and I think it MIGHT be the lesser of 2 evils as far as buying new ... other being a 2024 Tacoma. I found a 2023 TRD OR with 11k miles and asking was $40k.... it was scooped up quickly. Locally there is 2022 TRD PRO with 20k miles at a dealership and asking $45k. That is something I would absolutely consider. Once the dust has settled with Toyota and myself I'll know what I have to work with. And at this point in time having been without a vehicle for 61 days and counting it might just push me into 2025. Also an observation.. local dealership has 4 used 2024 Tacomas on the lot one with 6 miles. A couple other dealerships have 24 Tacomas also. Just wondering why.

Could be a few reasons, most of the time its someone who just turned it back in, like a buy back or traded it for something "not so truck like". You would be surprised at some of the things people do. I know this has given you a bad taste, I can understand that, but what is a 23 going to offer you better than a 24 or 25? Theyre not even the same truck really. I know its hard to want to go back in to another 24 after the shit show youve been through, but at least this gives you time to go drive some and REALLY think why you bought the 24 in the frst place over a 23 from the start, and then make your decisions. Good Luck, sorry you got the short stick...

Former sales, we would routinely buy a new car or two at the end of the month and it would put us up a level with Ford and add $25,000 (for example) to the month ($250/unit x 100 sales). We then put it into our used car inventory or loaner inventory.
I’m sure Toyota does stair step as well.

Or needs/situation change. Maybe a job loss or something.

Mine was 3 yrs old when I got it but had 6557 miles on it. Guy leased it and had a kid on the way when the lease was up. Can't put a child seat in this truck so it wasn't an option for them to buy it.

If you’re outside the VIN range for the transmissions is there really much to worry about for Tacoma buyers? They’ve resolved the issues with the Tundra engines too. Probably a VIN range for that.
