It was just a joke. However, it's pretty amazing that when any business takes your money it IS automagically immediately taken from your account and put in theirs. Must be a computer flaw. Works fast one way but takes weeks the opposite direction. They must make a lot of money sitting on the customers while they drag their feet and get interest on it in the mean time. Not to mention all those times everyone waits and when their money doesn't show up they call the business and hear a list of excuses for another delay.

    Good luck with today.

As for the Frontier, I owned one and switched to the Yota mostly because of the heavy steering feel in the Frontier, and poor turning radius. I know if you look at specs, a similar Tacoma has a larger turning radius, but how it drives is so much different that its deceptive, as I think the Tacoma has a smaller turning radius in the 'seat of the pants' meter. Much, much easier to park; feels much more nimble when driving. There were other reasons as well, but that was the main one. I needed a long bed, so that also ruled out any of the domestic mid size offerings, so I was glad that I liked the Tacoma so much.

I recommend folks that are considering the Frontier to see if they can rent one for a few days, or if you have a good dealer, let them give you a demo truck for a couple of days. Even a long test drive doesn't give you a good feel for the steering and how the truck drives. I thought I knew what I was getting from a couple of test drives with the Nissan, but after a few days following the purchase, I regretted the Frontier. After a year, I'd had enough and the new Taco's were out, so I test drove those and instantly knew it was what I wanted instead. I just wish the Frontier's steering was upgraded with their minor refresh that they introduced this year. Unfortunately, the steering is still the same. Good for the folks that like the heavy steering (and there are lot of people that praise the steering) - bad for folks like me that do not like driving a vehicle that feels like it has very little power assist.

I looked at new, leftover '23 Tacomas before I bought the '24 as well, and the ergos in the new truck are just better, but I'm also a bigger guy so that might just be my preference. I hesitated buying the new model first year, but so far, mine's been a good truck. Good luck on whatever you choose to replace yours with!

    Just getting started.
As a business owner of 20 years let me just say that isn't how things work when dealing with credit card companies. Batching card transactions can take a couple of days to fully process depending on the financial institution that issued you your credit/debit card and when processing refunds there is the same delay getting your funds returned. Also, any refunds or chargebacks negatively impacts the company as they have to refund 100% of your money but the credit card company keeps their fees (which the company pays), and if you issue a chargeback there is a non-refundable $15-25 fee regardless if the company wins the fight. Of course, none of this applies to this situation with Toyota, but don't assume retail businesses are trying to screw you on refunds as your ire is pointed at the wrong part of financial transactions.

Some of the safety stuff is mandated, but none of what you mentioned. Toyota includes it all because they say that it makes everyone safer. Whether it actually does or it's just virtue signaling I don't know. If it works — largely, it does — then I think it's fine. More cost? Sure, but it's helpful and when it's ubiquitous, we get benefits from economies of scale. More stuff to break? Maybe. I'm not convinced this stuff really does break that often, but I guess I'll see. My experience with it on other vehicles is that it's pretty reliable.

Solid yes. It seems to me to be the gaffs were more by the dealer than the manufacturer, if nothing else the lie that the dealer spun about the rental situation. That alone would incense me enough to push the issue a little more with Toyota at least insofar as how this dealer is representing their brand.

Some of it is, re the safety. The auto-stop feature is in a way another one that's not a safety, more a requirement for the mileage average. Annoying thing when we rented vehicles that had it, if I were to buy one that had the feature I'd probably just find the method to turn it off permanently.

I was talking to someone much younger than me the other day about how when I was a teenager you could get an okay car for $1000 or so, at least it wasn't going to probably fall apart immediately. He asked me what changed. Besides general inflation of course, I mentioned all the stuff like that. Even something basic still has ABS, air bags, and a lot more computer stuff versus what I learned to drive on.

lane departure assist (LDA), at least, comes back on every time you restart the truck. i hate it. there is a spot on a road very near my house, that i always take to get home, where it detects a line that is not there and nudges my wheel every time.

Done deal! Both checks are in the bank. They were 30 minutes late for appointment of course and blamed someone else other than themselves. Photos and videos were taken by me to document that there was no damage and nothing missing and they signed off on the truck as non damaged so no further surprises. I had a hard time keeping my cool when I walked in and they told me it is another 1/2 hour and when the business manager came out with the sales manager they made sure to tell me that they were doing me a favor by getting this finished and so quickly and it should have taken twice the time. That was the trigger. Few choice words from me, grabbed my checks and walked out without a word. A "fuck you very much" would have been ok but that's too polite.

I got 33 because the rest was financed. Now they satisfy the loan and that evens out the total. Parting shots or parting shots fired?? :infantry:

Brother... I could not agree with you more. Street justice is a lost art. I know people will disagree but that would absolutely adjust some people attitudes moving forward.
