100k (give or take) engines being recalled and replaced because machining debris left in them.

Cross shopping wildly different trims and capabilities seems a little silly. Like yeah you can look at a trail hunter and an sr5 tundra and think they’re similar price but they aren’t the same type of trim level

Nope. Once the process failure was found, they can fix it and future builds are unaffected. Then they have to scope out what prior lots were affected, for the recall.

I bought a tacoma with the risk of knowing the frame gets crumbly, and I am a coin toss if I'd rather a dealership re-engine or re-frame a truck, if I had to choose.

I think it’s perfectly legitimate to cross shop all of these things because Toyota has decided they all cost the same.

When your halo pick up truck costs as much as a Lexus land cruiser/Prado they are now fair game to cross shop.

When there is considerable overlap in Tacoma and tundra and Land Cruiser pricing, they are now competitors.

This has always been an issue. A gussied up “lower tier” vehicle always hits the bottom of another tier.

if you’re shopping for a Tacoma pro, what feature set are you shopping for that also hits an sr5 tundra? At that point it seems like you’re shopping the $70k number, not the best vehicle for your use

Test drove that Ranger Raptor just before I went under the knife. Pretty impressive but White :( If they didn’t have a lineup of guys wanting it, I would have played ball but I just couldn’t do White & it was Stupid marked up in price.

Or a ford for that matter. Let Toyota get there feet planted wit the Tacoma and they will work alll the kinks out. The only other midsize I like is the Frotntier. I owned two at work and they were both stellar

welp i turned it off again yesterday and its been off since, so clearly it was a me issue.

now i get to deal with the flashing "parking assist unavailable sensor blocked" error message in the snow, which you can't even clear without turning that off...unless you know how to fix that too? :notsure:

Someone a few posts back asked the same question. I traded my beautiful 2022 4R TRD ORP w/KDSS for the Tacoma because I really wanted a pick up. I love 4runners. Bought new ones over the years: 1995 SR5, 2015 TRD Pro, 2016 TRD Pro and 2022 TRD ORP.

Exactly, was just saying this the other day to someone about the stupid auto-stop in vehicles now. To be fair to the automakers they have to do something to meet that average, even if moneywise like Rob said it's a wash in the long haul. But hey less recycled dinosaurs roasting on an open first..
