    007Tacoma:
Technically combustion & detonation (knock) are the same, it's just that detonation is premature combustion (which is a bad thing). Premature combustion/detonation makes your pistion try to move backwards since it has not crossed the point of forward/downward travel yet.

To answer your first question, yes there is a safe way to use the URD MAF Calibrator, but you had better know what you are doing. When you read the threads of people who have the URD MAF Calibrator and their "tweaking" it for their specific vehicle, you will see that it takes some additional equipment and sensors to do it correctly.

And yes, 4X4Taco is absolutely correct in what he is saying about the worst possible thing to do to your engine is lean it out. This is exactly why manufactures have the ECU run your vehicle a little "rich", since they are more concerned about their warrenty than they are about your gas milage.

Where you normally see the majority of "lean" problems is with "forced induction" systems (supercharger or turbochargers) because more air is being forced into your engine than the fuel pressure regulator/injectors can deliver. As a result, unless you have a low psi forced induction system, you have to add larger injectors or an additional injector as well as an upgraded fuel pump to get your system back in the rich side.

(maverick491 just beat me to it and has a very good explanation.)

    True that....

In my car I run 15.5 lbs of boost using 42lb injectors.

    Just enough, and never enough
i have a few questions regarding the urd maf sensor calibrator. so if i have a scangauge and the urd maf calibrator can these two be used together to ensure i am running the right mixture of air to fuel? does the maf cali. void the warranty due to changing the mixture to the leaner side or is it ok as long as the mixture is correct? i am still trying to understand the calibrator in case i want to snag one to make the most out of my exhaust components.

    Oh Yeah!!!
Need to know what all needs to be done to calibrate correctly. Customer comments on URD just say things like; "Wow I installed this and immediately noticed the difference"... "Truck pulls hard... But, cant find anyware stating the whole tuning process, as far as difficulty and cost.

    Anyone been through the process.

    Thanks.

somewhere on this site there is a fuctional hood scoop. It actually directs the air from the scoop routed to the intake box. Very nice very functional but very expesnsive. 7bills

What kind of screen did you put in place of the plastic wind dam?
