Wow, I'm glad I read this thread. I almost made a huge mistake. I'm going to call Toyota first thing in the morning, cancel my truck and demand my deposit back.

Seriously though, I DID RESEARCH. That's why I went with the Tacoma instead of the Chevy I had my heart set on.

I'd like to throw my couple of pennies in...I had an issue with a rattle. the dealer replaced, in two visits front, rear shocks, and the right leaf spring. It was better, but still had a problem. e-mailed Toyoya, twice and they were very concerned. they assigned a reg tech to look into it and he replaced the rear shocks with a heavier duty set which solved the problem. all in all six visits, and i got a free loaner of a hybrid camry for a cople of days.
i'm happy with toyota...they did me right.

Hello. I just bought an access cab 2009 Tacoma last week. Would like to know what problems are known for this truck. I did my research and I found the 2005 Tacoma had most problems. Can you let me know what Toyota refused to fix or called known problems "normal operation" in the '08 - '09 model? Thanks.
Your post scares me as this is the first time I bought toyota

This is the first Taomca that I've owned and I did my research. Loved the truck the day I bought it and still loving it today. I would suggest anyone doing research on anything they buy then deciding for themselves. I don't see anyone in their right mind not buying a tacoma if a truck is what they are in the market for.

Agreed. I research every large purchase ($500.00 and up) I make.

Only thing a Tacoma doesnt do for me, thus justifying a different truck, is tow. Like mentioned earlier, I need to have a "work" truck able to tow 12,000 lbs. +, which is what my Dodge 2500 is for.

Agreed! I'm not pulling near that much. Most I've pulled is a small trailer and 5 quads and it pulled like a champ. Hoping to be pulling that new boat next summer. I have numerous friend who love my truck but say the same "just need the extra pulling power". Wish Toyota wouldn't have ditched the diesel project.

^True but a diesel wouldn't necessarily give it the ability to pull a lot more. There are other factors involved besides just power. But I'd trade mine in for a diesel in a second and I don't even tow much of anything.

^Of course it isn't wasting money. If so, there are millions of folks in Europe wasting money considering the majority of them are driving diesels. There is that little matter of 30% better fuel economy...

Well I'm still impressed with my truck. I went down to the track with a buddy of mine and I wanted to see just how my truck would do?

He has a stock Dbl Cab 05 Tundra, and my truck is a bit modified.:D

    My truck actually beat his.

    I was shocked.

I knew these trucks could haul ASS! but to beat a stock Tundra?

    I know I'm impressed!:burnrubber:

Toku, did you regear for those 35"s?

I can't wait to get my truck to a track. I'm pretty curious to see how it does. I <3 the 4.0 in these trucks.
