Pop-N-Lock 5300 Tailgate Lock will fit all 2005-2010 Tacomas
I got sent it by mistake and said screw it and put it on. Looks pretty good too. It has a little tab you unscrew for the camera but can be left if you don't have one.

Is this the newer one that supposedly is stronger than the first one they came out with for the 09-10s?

no idea. i checked for a specific model number (or sub-model #) but didn't see one on my paperwork/mfg box. it was made in 12/20/09 though. hope that helps. it seems a little beefier than stock, fwiw.

I have an 08 and still prefer my 5200 one. my bro in law has an 2011 and got that 5300 and just feels flimsy. my 5200 is solid metal.
