Seems like there are options out there to adjust settings with phone or computer. I don't mess with any of my settings anymore- but maybe look into those apps/tools if needed.

Looks nice. I had a previous Sony unit and had troubles with it randomly turning the rear camera on. It seemed to be an issue with a bunch of different models. Did they fix that?

I’ve had three different head units (Kenwood, Sony, and Alpine) and never got the center cluster to work correctly though the stereo wheel controls work well. This is with 2 different professional installers having a go at it.

No issues with rear camera for me. Steering wheel controls work fine with aftermarket integration boxes. Its not a Maestro compatible radio, so you won't get the center cluster sync for media.

There are several of these available from different companies. All of them are in this $600+ range. Here's why I would encourage you to seek other options:
    1. It will get you Apple Carplay/Android Auto and maybe allow you to screen mirror other apps, but that's really all you're getting. So for $600+ you're merely paying for the ability to use Apple/Android.
    2. There are cheaper options. If you are going to spend $600 for a wire harness that gets you Apple/Android, you could spend less and get a bigger screen, an updated system, Apple/Android, and other apps (like Netflix...for when you're parked). A Dasaita or Joying unit is about half the cost and packs in way more options and features.

If you're really hard up and don't want to spend money, but still want upgraded features...just use what you might already have. Until I decide which Android HU I want, I'm using my Samsung Galaxy Tab S4. I synced my phone as the call feature and my tablet as my music option in the bluetooth settings of my Taco stereo. Then I use an Android app called Headunit Reloaded and it mirrors Android Auto from my phone to my tablet. I mounted a strip of velcro to my dash and back of tablet and voila, Android Auto headunit. And I can take my tablet with me. Only downside is it blocks the OE headunit for use of the backup camera.

Fair enough but you have no way to revert back to OEM vehicle settings which I change all the time. That is why it is a better option for some.

Not necessarily. The JOYING units with a canbus will allow you to change vehicle OEM settings. One of our fellow Taco World members installed a JOYING unit and was able to change the settings. See his video walk-through here: (https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...onents-3-amps-wow.576729/page-3#post-21007394) About the 2:35 mark of the video you can see that he has options to change the vehicle settings like Remote 2-press Unlock, Lock/Unlock Feedback Tone, etc.

EDIT-- FOUND THE CRUX INTERFACE UNIT.
Still some crimping to be done for sure but hopeing makes alot more sense...

OP, I purchased same unit and was all set to install. Of course I blindly listened to Crutchfield so i have the plastic mounting brackets. Thats not my real issue. Though I have crimped and traced a wire or two in my time..I thought the harness would be much more plug and play. This sure looks like the connectors are clipped on the truck and on to splice town!!
As i peck this response out I am starting get the feeling I needed to ask crutfield to make the harness?

Yeah- should be a no splicing job if they included all the right harnesses for ya... just a few crimps to be done. Feel free to PM me if ya have any questions on the install.

Fit looks perfect, but work has me tied to Apple. Apple CarPlay work flawlessly on these?

I got a little put off by some of the negative sound quality and buggy performance reviews on the Joying units a while back- but they do look really nice flush in dash.

I think I’ll be opening the dash opening a bit and flush mounting the Sony this spring.

I dont want to take over your thread, but this thing works great for me. Everything works, steering wheel, backup cam, wireless carplay, surfing net, netflix....im playing music videos instead of mp3s now. With that being said, it is not for everyone. It does take a bit of tech savy to understand and get it working. Like most other stereos, the programing is set, with very little for you to screw up. This is alot different where you can almost do anything, and hence need some tech knowledge to know how to troubleshoot anything that may come up. I wish i could upload some video cuz its pretty awesome. To be honest, carplay is sort of over rated cuz the t9 does so much more. I use it primarily for maps, so ill split screen carplay with the t9, so i can still play music, videos, youtube, whatever app you want. Its basically a tablet with all the car function stuff. Another great point is its only $380. It works out of the box, but i did get a few accessories to make it work better such as better wifi attenna and a carplay dongle(not needed but recomended). As for sound, this is just as good as a key kicker amp 4x45w. I have no complaints, also amazing builtin equalizer

on the left is maps on carplay, on the right im streaming youtube(tethered to my phone)38A326CE-2221-4D72-A0F4-BDBDB2F834F2.jpg

Do you still have the speed limit icon on your multifunction display on the dash?
