After fighting PO171/174. Surprise! The fuel pump was going bad on my 05 Tacoma. Amazing what these new ones will do to compensate. Anyhow, I peered under the bed and thought, Wow, I'll pull the bed and this will be a 1 hour fix. Wrong, it would have been even if it had been an extended cab but, what I saw was all vapor cannnister stuff. Yanked the bed and voila! Where is the fuel pump? Oh no, its under the cab, just enough that I can't reach it. Dropped the tank anyway and it was easier with the bed out of the way but not necessary to remove. You can laugh at me but don't make my mistake. Truck sure does run good with the new pump. Evidently the old one had been going bad for some time. Most experience I had with american machines the pump went bad all at once. Oh well, lesson learned. Thanks for all the responses and info.
