Time brother, time and patience. Commit to it. Eat right, get enough sleep, hit the weights with a vengence. Get someone who's been where you are now and has achieved the results you want. Have them show you their routine (when to workout, for how long, which muscle group on which day, which supps if any, ect.) There's a lot of info on the www.bodybuilding.com forum. I commit 4 days a week to both weight and cardio circuit training no matter what. Being fit and looking good is a big part of living well in my book! Good luck, you can do it...just don't give up!

im not a body builder (WAY FAR from it...) but if your gonna take supplements... just save your money and get some juice. you will just be about the same, WAAAY faster results with less work and less money. dont be the 96% of peeps who buy ish just to make the SAME results, but lacked the efforted of the Will, looking for an easy way. if your a naturally skinny dude... FUCK ALL the supplements, and save the money and get some juice. if your skinny its gonna take YEARS to get to where you probly want to be. you can save 3 years worth of expensive supplements, and get where you want to be in 6 months with some juice.

do you want to get big or do you want to get fit? if you want to get ripped go check out www.crossfit.com . it will shame any work out you are currently doing. it is pure hell for 30 minutes. and then you are done. the warm up alone is more than some people do for a full work out.

Working out helps to build muscle.

Don't waste your money at GNC or any other similar store.

Work out as hard as you can and eat as much as you can. Don't over do the sugar and saturated fats.

Its 80% genetics 20% workout and diet.

at 5 foot 8 I can be a strong mildly chubby 235 or a very lean 180. Unless you have help of a pharmacist, a very few lucky have the genetics to be a lean 230.

    There are so many myths.

    That is myth #891

Look at any IFBB guy in the gym. Most, if not all, do a crap load of reps.

    To everyone:
Read up about it from a good science journal (not muscle and fatness magazine or a muscletech advertisement) and learn the science behind it. You will be surprised - most of what is sold to you and taught to you from the supplement industry is absolute crap.

It wasn't until I gave up ALL supplements and got all that artificial "health" food store crap out of my body, that I was able to surpass my goal.

You want to be as strong as a gorilla? start acting like one and eating like one. -minus the poo throwing.

i think gaining muscle is gay........ well not literally, but pointless..... evolution, adaptation, i think about the functionality.... more muscle, more blood, more oxygen, = less endurance, teasing your body thinking you need muscle that you really dont.... i just find it a waste of time, if you can accomplish somthing like working outdoors or hauling wood or somthing instead of moving the same piece back and forth..... if your losing weight thats cool, for health, but if you aint a scrawny lil shit... then i dont see why u wanna even try.... the ladies? lol....

    hate on me now

You know. If you had worded that a little better it may have warranted some good points. But you are absolutely correct.

Farmer strength. Also knows as wrestler strength. Linear repetitive motion like working out makes your muscles stronger but often than not, your body doesn't get stronger. I helped a buddy (farmer) move a hot water heater. I had about 50 lbs of muscle on this guy but I was the one struggling.

Look at any endurance sport (even powerlifting). The REALLY strong guys are often not very muscular looking (minus Marius Pujanouski). Guys like Ronnie Coleman (body building) really aren't as strong as they should be because he trains using linear repetitive movements. Then you have guys like Phil Pfister that has spent most of his life probably bailing hay and being a fireman.

yeah i doubt that he does if not, like 2 times a week. grappling is such a work out, and im sure his circuit training is would make us normal people puke our guts out.
