    Yes you an illuminate the switch by tapping into the illumination circuit of another switch. Fyi, a diode only allows electricity to flow in one direction, it has nothing to do with stepping down the voltage.

    You could use the 12v power from the truck but you would need to lower the voltage to be the same as the battery that powers the remote.

    Thanks a bunch for your response. I thought I could tap into the lighting circuit. And you are so right. I was wondering what all would have to be done to eliminate the battery and would it be a major hassle and or expensive?

    I’ve bought the 12v step down to 3v but am unclear as to where to ground the remote since I’m deleting the battery. I don’t see a prong for the back side of the battery for the neg to go to?
