Found this one on eBay straight from China for $6.64 ... I'm not sure if it's the same AoB used to carry or not. I just ordered one, so we'll see when (if) it gets here in a week or so.

The spare garage door opener I have is already 12v, so I can wire it straight up to power :)

    I used this little guy

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/AutoSwitch...h=item544de604f8:g:Jp8AAOxyB9RSzayb:rk:1:pf:0

plus my spare remote to open my complexes garage on my motorcycle. just flash my lights, opens right up. :) i then installed this set up on my taco. i used the high beam for signal to activate the door, but i should have used low beam. the lights have to be on otherwise.. for the 12v pulse of flicking the brights. but love it.

Nice! I wanted the flash-to-pass module for years, but it was $100 or so? This is the right price for the bike. Thanks!

Incidentally, the spare opener I'll be using for the Taco used to be wired up to the "pass button" on my 675R. I used pretty much the same method as in this thread.

That bike is track-only now ... so the setup can be repurposed!

i thought about doing this for a while, never got around to doing it. but if any of you park your truck outside of your garage, do you get worried about someone breaking into the truck and having access into your home? maybe im paranoid. there was a string of robberies in my neck of the woods where people were breaking into cars to gain access to the house.

if i did do this, i would want to "hide" the switch and not have a switch that says garage door.

I added the homelink mirror. If my taco has to stay outside, the garage door opener wall console can be turned off. If your wall console doesn't have a on-off switch, it should be relatively simple to change it to one that has an on-off switch.

totally agree, but if you hid a spare key on your porch, you wouldnt put a sign that said "spare key here".

i would def use a blank monetary switch and mount it some where easy to access from the driver seat but hidden from sight. its not often i leave my cars parked in the driveway, but if i do, i always bring the garage remote in the house.

i just like the cleanliness of doing this mod more than anything.

It's a concern with homelink and regular openers as well.

Most control panels on the inside will have a 'lock' switch that disables opening the door with any remotes. I flip this switch any time I leave a car outside for the night.

Another option is to hook your integrated opener to switched power rather than always on.

    Makes perfect sense.
But, how about if the power wire came from a "key-activated only" source? Power is hot only when the key is in the "run" position. Simple enough to do.

i thought about this also, but i think thats getting into more work than its worth for me. not to knock on this mod or anyone thats done this (im sure thats what it seems like im doing, haha) , i really like this mod. i am all about tinkering and personalization and this is a cool clean mod.

Mine is only functional when truck is turned on

Just have to wire up a mosfet to trigger the opener inatead of using the switch directly. Then, power the mosfet with the trucks switched power.

Another vote for the non wire variety! Anyone know what color spray paint would match that grey? (2016 Tacoma, for reference) Flat black would be good too, I guess.

Again, zero MacGyver skills here. no soldering/wiring in my repertoire. :anonymous:

So.... I added the monetary push button mod on my overhead console, but it has a very limited range. I can only open/close from the driveway, normally the opener worked 6-7 houses away. I have a feeling the lane guidance radar or anything else going on near the front winshield is messing with the transmitter.

    Anyone else experience this?
