Figured I'd post up some additions I made to the shop air system. Couldn't find a great way to mount my reel on the lift without drilling or welding to the uprights so I came up with this bracket. Works out great and I got a chance to use it last weekend rotating the tires on my car, much easier having a retractable reel right by the lift. I have a reel at the other end of the shop but to go all the way down there to unwind it is too far to be convenient hence why I added it. Prior to this was using one of my wall drops with a portable cord, worked OK but putting it away each time after use became frustrating.

I posted on the a garage/shop FB page I'm on and got a few requests to make some more. One of the fellows email me back a picture of his bracket after he mounted it up.

I got the same one about 6 months ago. It is really quiet compared to the 1960's oiled one I got from my grandfather.

Game changer! So easy it feels like cheating. Also used my new torque wrench to tighten them... I do believe I had been over-torquing before...

Yeah, once you get an impact gun, you can never go back.

Impacts are great for taking wheels off. But do yourself a favor and use a torque wrench when you put them back on. I've seen quite a few lugs that have snapped from being over tightened one too many times. And it usually happens at 0 dark 30, in the middle of the worst rainstorm of the century, about 20 miles from town with no cell service.

Oh for sure. I run them in until about 90% and finish them off by hand. But the rest is far quicker!

Use a torque stick and follow up with your torque wrench.

I usually just turn the dial back on my pneumatic gun to tighten then finish off with the terk wrench. Do the electric ones have a “clutch” or limiter like the pneumatic ones?

Depends on the gun and brand. Most will have "power levels". Some like Milwaukee offer an option that will stop at the first "hammer" (not sure if other brands do this too or not)

Coming from 10 acres with a 40x80 shop with lift and air, to a 2 car garage. Struggle is real. Doesnt help its HOA and this is all the room I have.

Thanks, that makes sense. I guess I'll have to do a little research. Been thinking about getting an electric impact for trail repairs but hesitant to shell the money out until I checked out some different brands and pros/cons.

Makitas do too. You can set it to stop at first hammer, or more.

Lol. Can you get a shed for the garden tools and the Jeep?

You'll just have to get creative and efficient. Check out https://www.garagejournal.com/ and search Google images for space saving garage ideas. Put whatever you can on wheels or locking casters, maximize wall space, and plan things thoroughly.

That pic is when we first moved in. I'm trying to get a little 10x10 for the back yard for some of the totes and lawn equipment. I saw some cool overhead rack storage I want to try as well.

I have a couple large overhead racks and they’re awesome. They’re a little annoying to install but they free up a ton of garage space.

As already stated a few brands do. I’m using Milwaukee Fuel stuff here and I can select the mode that stops at the first hit.

he probably could but the last HOA i lived in wanted plans submitted to the board for their review (and charged a $75 fee). they wanted you to match the siding, roof and paint colors to the house trim. what should have been a cheap shed doubled in price (we had cement tile roof on house and they wanted that on the shed).

Yeah, overheads for sure for camping and holiday decorations and...truck mods.

On the shed, if you think 10x10 will do it, get a 10×12. If you can.

That's what everyone says. I just need enough space to hold 5 totes of Christmas decorations and my generator. Thinking of building my own, cant have a shed company deliver because of sod and fence. So either I build for 1500$ or pay 3500-4500 for someone to build it
