It feels good cleaning up and reorganizing everything after a project. My garage has been in a state of disarray for a few weeks now.

One thing at a time, you’ll get there. Each large purchase was a small victory and it took me awhile to get to this point. The work bench was the biggest game changer in my opinion.

I do so much metal work in here that everything gets covered in metal dust. I want to keep all my stuff tucked away.

Im actually looking at air purification kits right now. Baby two will be here in 2 weeks or less so I been hibernating getting back into work working. Made a couple fishing pole racks and gifted one then made a couple cutting boards and gifted one for Xmas. I have a half mask respirator I wear sometimes (not really) but the sanding and fine saw dust had me hacking for two days.. I put an exhaust fan in early on the garage build but give winter and heating the garage I can’t maintain the temp in the garage with the heat getting sucked right out.. Or at least my dual propane burner. After baby comes and the wife lets me off house arrest I’m going to pick up a wood stove for the hearth I built last month. Either way the research done on the air purification systems (mostly wood shops) has me thinking it’s dumb not to have one in a closed in shop.

    Looking at this one
    WEN 3417 3-Speed Remote-Controlled Industrial-Strength Air Filtration System (556/702/1044 CFM) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KKXNY26/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_qcu6FbMPZ7NTZ?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

Also Santa got me a Boro centipede. It’s going to be great for a (temporary) center shop table, be able to work 360 around it.

I have the smaller unit of that and my brother has the one linked. They work pretty well for what they are. But dont expect them to be sucking up the dust as you make it...still will be breathing it if not wearing a mask.

Where they really shine is in getting the crap out of the air and keeping the dust from landing on everything in the garage. But you have to just set it to run and let it work over a few hours.

pretty much my expectations and good to hear first hand it does work to the extent you described. And I should start wearing a mask more for winter months with the garage door closed. Before the units were on my radar I was explaining to my wife after she told me to put a mask on, I can wear one sanding but what about after when I’m done..? Wear it the whole time while I’m done sanding and hanging out now? This unit will hopefully solve that. Time is on my side, I’ll work and hangout for hours in the garage. For the smaller unit, how big is your garage? And the one linked how big is your brothers garage? My garage is 23’x25’x11’ ceiling. I haven’t crunched the numbers yet per unit to room size but was thinking bout exceeding the need with the bigger one to clear the room better/faster..

if sanding is your main concern another route albeit a bit more expensive would be to go with a Festool sander / HEPA vac combo , they are amazingly dust free

My problem is I tinker with everything. I’m not just wood oriented.. Or I would have a vaccum collection system. My issue now is just winter months in the garage heating it. I don’t mind saw dust everywhere to pick it up after a project with a dust pan. My concern is health, breathing in the shop for longevity. I’m half threw a trailer build and some other steel projects I’ve done it’s easily noticed the black snots I get from gring dust. I also read the air purification system also works with paint over spray. Alotta rattle can would be nice to pull the paint particles from the air as well.

It was in the old garage. Im not 100% sure what size the garage was but i would call it a 2.5 car garage and pretty standard height. My brothers is probably close to same sq ft wise but the ceiling is all open.
